The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot, working knowledge of Kafka, and solid skills with relational databases. You will work closely with senior developers, QA, and product teams to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.\nWhat You’ll Do:\nDesign, develop, test, and maintain backend applications using Java and Spring Boot\nImplement and support Kafka-based messaging and event-driven integrations\nWork with relational databases, including schema design, queries, and performance optimization\nBuild and consume RESTful APIs\nCollaborate with team members to deliver features and improvements\nParticipate in code reviews and follow best practices for clean, maintainable code\nTroubleshoot and resolve application bugs and performance issues\nContribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing\nActively participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives)\nWhat You'll Bring:\n5+ years of professional experience in Java application development\nStrong working knowledge of Java (8+) and Spring Boot\nExperience with Apache Kafka (producing and consuming messages, basic event-driven workflows)\nSolid understanding of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server)\nProficiency in SQL and database querying\nExperience with REST APIs and backend service development\nFamiliarity with Git and standard build tools such as Maven or Gradle\nExperience working effectively in a collaborative Agile team environment\nStrong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly\nGood analytical and problem-solving skills\nAbility to manage tasks independently and meet delivery timelines\nWillingness to learn, receive feedback, and continuously improve technical skills\nNice-to-Have (Optional)\nExperience with microservices-based architectures\nExposure to CI/CD pipelines\nFamiliarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)\nExperience with Docker or containerized applications\nWorking Conditions\nWork in standard office-based environments located in Scarborough and Downtown Toronto; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
