This mission will ask everything of us: urgency, precision, and relentless work.\nThe Role\nWe’re building autonomous vehicles and need a hands-on technician to keep our fleet healthy and help build new vehicles. This is one role with two main responsibilities. The larger segment is fleet ownership: you’re the person who knows the state of every vehicle, what it needs, and when it will be ready. The other portion is vehicle build and upfit, where you work from drawings and work instructions to help get new vehicles built.\nYou’ll sit on the Vehicle Integration team and be the link between Engineering and Mission Operations (MOPS), so you’ll need to be comfortable with both the wrenches and the tracking systems. You’ll be based at HQ, with regular travel to our testing facility. This is a chance to come in early and build the processes that keep a fleet of autonomous vehicles in the field.\nResponsibilities\nFleet ownership (75%)\nOwn vehicle readiness: know which vehicles are up, down, or in service, and why\n\nTrack fleet health, issues, and repairs in Jira and Fleetio\n\nImplement and run a preventive maintenance program, including schedules, service history, and follow-through\n\nCoordinate with MOPS to schedule repairs and keep vehicles available for testing\n\nTriage faults, decide what to fix in-house, and escalate to Engineering when it’s beyond base vehicle repair\n\nPerform base vehicle repairs and maintenance as needed\n\nManage spares and parts inventory for the fleet\n\nTransport vehicles between the testing facility and HQ when needed\n\nSpot recurring failures and bring them back to Engineering and MOPS with data\n\nBuild and upfit (25%)\nHelp with vehicle upfits at HQ, including mounting, wiring, and installing hardware to work instructions and drawings\n\nFollow checklists and record what was actually built, including serial numbers and any deviations from the drawing\n\nFlag unclear instructions or mismatches to Engineering rather than guessing\n\nGive feedback on work instructions so they get better over time\n\nQualifications\nHands-on experience with vehicle, equipment, or electromechanical work (automotive, off-road/UTV, heavy equipment, robotics, or similar)\n\nComfortable using hand and power tools and following wiring diagrams and technical drawings\n\nExperience owning maintenance or readiness for a fleet or set of equipment, or a clear ability to pick it up quickly\n\nOrganized, with a habit of documenting your work and keeping records current\n\nClear communicator who can work across Engineering and operations teams\n\nValid driver’s license with a clean driving record, and willingness to drive vehicles between sites\n\nAbility to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen, given the safety-sensitive nature of operating vehicles and equipment\n\nMust be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export controlled information or facilities\n\nPassion about defense of the United States and its allies\n\nNice to have\nExperience with Fleetio or another fleet maintenance system\n\nExperience with Jira or similar issue tracking\n\nWire harness, connector termination, or CAN bus familiarity\n\nExperience with autonomous, robotic, or prototype vehicles\n\nTrailer or towing experience\n\nBasic Python or scripting for reporting and tracking\n\nWhy Join Scout\nWork on the world’s most important frontier, ensuring U.S. and allied dominance in the age of intelligent machines\n\nBe a core part of a team building the first defense-specific robotic foundation model\n\nCollaborate with some of the top engineers in autonomy, AI, and national security\n\nSee your work deployed on real systems\n\nBacked by investors including Draper Associates and Booz Allen Ventures\n\nBenefits\nCompetitive compensation package including base salary and bonus\n\nMeaningful equity\n\nPremium medical, dental, and vision plans with $0 paycheck contribution\n\nCompetitive PTO and company holiday calendar\n\nCatered lunch daily and fully stocked kitchen\n\nEV charging\n\nRelocation assistance (depending on role eligibility)\n\nThe stated salary range below represents an estimated base pay only and reflects consideration of multiple compensation factors.
