Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual general ledger close process, including the close calendar, account ownership, review procedures, issue resolution, and timely completion of deliverables.

  • Partner with technical accounting, tax, treasury, FP&A, legal, development, operations, and other teams to ensure transactions are recorded accurately and reporting requirements are met.
  • Maintain and enhance accounting policies, procedures, close checklists, reconciliations, and audit-ready documentation.
  • Evaluate existing accounting processes and implement scalable improvements that shorten the close, strengthen controls, reduce manual effort, and improve reporting quality.
  • Support internal control activities and remediation efforts, including review of key controls and coordination of evidence needed for internal and external audit procedures.
  • Assist the Controller with special projects, transactions, and other accounting or reporting matters as the business grows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA strongly preferred.
  • Approximately 8 or more years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong foundation in public accounting and external audit.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience leading a monthly and quarterly general ledger close process in a complex, multi-entity environment.
  • Direct experience coordinating multiple audits with a Big 4 accounting firm, including managing request lists, schedules, issue resolution, and deadlines.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial statement preparation, general ledger accounting, consolidations, and account reconciliation standards.
  • Experience preparing or reviewing recurring financial reporting for executive leadership, boards, lenders, or private equity ownership.
  • Industry accounting experience strongly desired; renewable energy, infrastructure, power, or another asset-intensive industry is a plus but not required.
  • Strong leadership, project management, analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with Oracle Fusion Cloud and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, is preferred.

Organizational Fit

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a flat organization, successfully leveraging the expertise of colleagues across different lines of reporting.
  • Strong communication, project management, and team-building skills, including experience working with cross-functional internal teams and external technical advisors and stakeholders.
