Our teams build digital and data services for the public sector, used by people across the UK.\n\nHours that work. You’ll be in the office from 9am to 3pm, Monday to Friday, which fits around the school day.\n\nAt a Glance\nRole: Data Engineering Academy Trainee\nWho it’s for: Career returners\nLength: 1 month (4 weeks), Monday 9 November to Friday 4 December 2026\nPay: Paid for the full month at £12.71 an hour\nHours: Monday to Wednesday in the office, Thursday and Friday WFH, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, plus self-study in your own time.\nLocation: Staines Office\nAt the end: Complete the academy successfully and you’ll be assessed and evaluated for a permanent position at Scrumconnect.\nAbout the Academy\nWhatever the reason for your break, whether caring, health, family, relocation or something else, you’re welcome here. We’ve designed the academy to help you rebuild your confidence and learn new skills in a supportive, friendly environment.\nData engineers build the pipelines that collect, clean and organise data so organisations can make better decisions. It’s a skill in high demand, and we’ll help you take your first steps into it.\nYou don’t need to be an expert. We’re looking for curious, motivated people who are keen to learn.\nWho We’re Looking For\nWe’re looking for people who:\nHave at least 2 years of technical experience in the field of data and IT.\n\nAre career returners, either from maternity or paternity leave, looking to restart their careers after a break.\n\nCan assimilate information from sources effectively.\n\nAre curious, organised and good with detail.\n\nEnjoy solving problems and working with numbers or information.\n\nAre willing to learn and work well in a team.\n\nWhat Happens at the End?\nThe academy is a one-month paid training programme, not a permanent job. Complete it successfully and you’ll be invited to interview for a data engineering role.\nSuccessful completion is based on your Week 4 assessments, your group project, and your attendance and engagement during the month.
