Our teams work at the forefront of innovation, helping organisations transform and deliver high-quality, scalable solutions that truly matter.\nThe Role\nThe playbook helps councils manage the digital and cyber risks of local government reorganisation under tight timelines. As the Interaction Designer, you'll shape how councils find, understand and apply that guidance, and how they contribute their own learning back. It currently runs on WordPress, and the target platform isn't confirmed, so you'll design for what the platform can realistically deliver. You'll design for users who are often under pressure and short of time, and ground your work in sector research.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign end-to-end journeys for the main user tasks, such as finding relevant guidance, using decision-support tools and contributing material.\n\nPrototype and test designs with council users, and iterate from the evidence.\n\nDesign within the platform's constraints (currently WordPress themes, templates and blocks), and propose and document reusable patterns where existing ones don't fit.\n\nApply GOV.UK Design System patterns where the chosen platform allows.\n\nMake sure designs meet WCAG 2.2 AA and work on the devices councils use.\n\nWork with the content designer on structure, navigation and tone, so design and content work together.\n\nWork closely with the developer to get designs implemented as intended, and take part in design reviews.\n\nDocument design decisions and hand over patterns and research to the permanent team.\n\nWhat We're Looking For\nEssential\nSC cleared, active SC or SC eligible.\n\nDemonstrable experience designing and shipping interaction design for complex digital services.\n\nExperience designing for WordPress sites, including themes, templates and the block editor, and understanding what can and can't be configured.\n\nExperience prototyping and usability testing.\n\nUnderstanding of accessibility and inclusive design.\n\nAble to explain design decisions to stakeholders and collaborate across disciplines.\n\nA portfolio showing end-to-end work and the evidence behind it.\n\nDesirable\nWorking knowledge of the GOV.UK Design System, the Prototype Kit and the Service Manual.\n\nExperience in UK government or the wider public sector, including service assessments.\n\nExperience designing for knowledge-sharing or community-contribution products.\n\nExperience designing tools that support decisions, such as checklists, planners and frameworks.\n\nFamiliarity with working alongside user researchers.\n\nOur Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion\nAt Scrumconnect Consulting, we believe diversity drives innovation.
