With a strong commitment to user-centred design and agile delivery, and more to deliver innovative digital services that matter.\nThe Role\nWe're looking for an early-career Content Designer to join a multidisciplinary team. You'll work in a delivery team for a key government client and also support our internal content design activity. It's a chance to build your craft on real public services, with experienced designers around you.\nKey Responsibilities\nClient Delivery\nWork with the Business Analyst, Product Manager and User Researcher to understand the problems and pain points users face.\n\nUnderstand what the service is trying to achieve and make sure the content supports it.\n\nCreate content that fits the service design and meets user needs, using GOV.UK content design best practice and the GOV.UK style guide.\n\nWrite and structure content across the user journey, such as service pages, guidance, questions, error messages and notifications.\n\nImprove content based on user research, usability testing, feedback and analytics.\n\nWork with the Interaction Designer and developers so content and design work together and the content is built into the service as intended.\n\nGet content reviewed and approved by subject matter experts and stakeholders, and explain your content decisions.\n\nWrite in plain English and make sure content meets accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2 AA).\n\nKeep content consistent by maintaining a style and terminology guide for the service.\n\nShare what you learn and help raise content standards across the team.\n\nDocument content decisions and hand over content and guidelines at the end of the engagement.\n\nInternal Activity\nContribute to, write and review bids.\n\nSupport our intranet and content management.\n\nHelp colleagues build their skills in GDS content design best practice and in user-centred design more widely.\n\nContribute to Community of Practice (CoP) activities.\n\nWrite thought leadership articles.\n\nWhat We're Looking For\nEssential\n1 to 2 years of industry experience.\n\nExperience as a Content Designer in UK public sector or government digital delivery.\n\nKnowledge of GOV.UK content design principles, the GOV.UK style guide and the Design System.\n\nProven ability to write clear, plain English for non-specialist audiences, including complex policy or technical subjects.\n\nExperience working with user researchers and using research and data to shape and improve content.\n\nExperience designing content for transactional services, such as forms, guidance and notifications.\n\nUnderstanding of accessibility and inclusive content.\n\nExperience working in agile, multidisciplinary teams and with stakeholders at different levels.\n\nKnowledge of the GDS Service Standard and the role of content across Discovery, Alpha and Beta.\n\nDesirable\nExperience writing content for local government, housing, planning or other regulatory services.\n\nExperience using analytics and content testing tools to measure and improve content.\n\nExperience handing content and guidelines over to a permanent in-house team.\n\nA portfolio that shows the evidence behind your content decisions.\n\nExperience writing or contributing to bids.\n\nOur Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion\nAt Scrumconnect Consulting, we believe diversity drives innovation.
