Our teams work at the forefront of innovation, helping organisations transform and deliver high-quality, scalable solutions that truly matter.\nAbout the Role\nWe are looking for an experienced Front-End Developer specialising in Design Systems to help build, maintain, and drive the adoption of a government design system.\nYou will develop accessible, reusable, and high-quality front-end components that can be used by delivery teams across the programme. You will also support the adoption and rollout of the design system through clear documentation, communication, and hands-on technical guidance.\nThis is a front-end specialist role for someone who has experience building or maintaining component libraries and who is passionate about accessibility, performance, scalability, and developer experience.\nKey Responsibilities\nBuild and maintain a government-standard component library and design system.\nAudit and remediate components to meet WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards.\nDevelop reusable front-end components using the design system's existing technology stack.\nPackage and version components for consistent reuse across delivery teams.\nWork closely with designers using Figma, Figma Dev Mode, and Figma Make to translate designs into production-ready components.\nSupport design system rollout, including change management, communications, and adoption across delivery teams.\nWrite and maintain automated tests, including component testing using Storybook and Chromatic.\nMaintain automated build, testing, and deployment pipelines using Azure DevOps and YAML.\nMaintain documentation sites, release notes, migration guidance, and documentation for breaking changes.\nCollaborate with technical and delivery teams to encourage consistent adoption of the design system.\nEssential Skills & Experience\nWe are looking for candidates with:\nProven experience building or maintaining government design systems or component libraries, rather than simply consuming them.\nStrong experience auditing and remediating websites and components against WCAG 2.2 AA, including practical knowledge of relevant tools and methodologies.\nStrong front-end development skills in:\nJavaScript\nTypeScript\nHTML\nCSS\nReact and/or Angular\n\nExperience using Figma Dev Mode and Figma Make.\nExperience supporting change, communication, and adoption activities for a design system or similar shared product.\nExperience developing applications that integrate with and consume APIs.\nExperience with Azure DevOps and YAML pipelines.\nExperience writing automated tests and building automated build and test pipelines.\nExperience with DAST tooling.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills with fluent English.\nDesirable Skills & Experience\nExperience with the following would be advantageous:\nWeb Components\nStorybook\nnpm packaging\nTheming and re-skinning components\nDesign tokens and CSS architecture\nResponsive design across desktop, tablet, and mobile\nSemantic versioning and managing breaking changes\nCreating migration guidance for major releases\nPerformance optimisation for low-bandwidth users\nAsset and icon-set optimisation\nBuilding and maintaining documentation websites\nDiversity & Inclusion\nAt Scrumconnect Consulting, we believe that diversity drives innovation and better outcomes.
