You will design, build, and maintain data pipelines and infrastructure, working closely with wider delivery colleagues to deliver secure, reliable, and scalable services that support critical public sector operations.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign, develop, and maintain data pipelines and processing workflows using Apache Spark and Python\nBuild, schedule, and monitor workflow orchestration using Apache Airflow\nDevelop and maintain infrastructure-as-code using Terraform across AWS environments\nContainerise applications and services using Docker\nBuild and maintain CI/CD pipelines in GitLab, supporting automated build, test, and deployment processes\nIntegrate security scanning agents into the development and deployment pipeline to ensure code and infrastructure meet security standards\nDevelop and maintain notebooks (Jupyter) to support data exploration, analysis, and prototyping\nBuild and maintain integrations with DWP Integration Team products, ensuring reliable and secure data exchange\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams including data engineers, DevOps, and product stakeholders\nWrite clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following best practices\nContribute to system design and architecture decisions\nEnsure application performance, scalability, and adherence to security standards\nConduct code reviews and support the development of junior team members\nParticipate in sprint planning, refinement, and other agile ceremonies\nRequired Skills & Qualifications\nExperience developing software using Python\nExperience with AWS services\nExperience with Terraform for infrastructure as code\nExperience with Apache Spark for data processing\nExperience with Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration\nExperience with Docker and containerisation\nExperience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitLab\nExperience integrating security scanning tools into development pipelines\nExperience with Jupyter Notebooks for data exploration and analysis\nExperience integrating with third-party or internal platform products, ideally within a government or DWP context\nUnderstanding of secure coding practices\nExperience with Git and Agile methodologies\nStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities\nGood communication and collaboration skills\nPreferred Qualifications\nPrior experience working in the public sector\nExperience working in regulated or standards-driven environments (e.g., public sector digital services or GDS-aligned projects)\nRelevant certifications in AWS, Python, or data engineering\nSoft Skills\nStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities\nGood communication and collaboration skills\nAbility to work independently and in team environments\nMentorship and leadership mindset\nAdditional Information\nSecurity Clearance: Active SC Clearance required\n Location: Newcastle (in-office one day per week)\nOur Interview Process\nWe keep things straightforward.
