ARS is a close-knit team of specialists in Head Disk Electrical (HDE), Head Disk Mechanical (HDM), and Channel Preamp. HDM, part of ARS, is a global team that applies mechanical, chemical, and data science expertise-using tools like Design of Experiments (DOE) and statistical modeling analysis-to solve complex challenges and ensure HDD reliability.\nKey Roles of ARS-HDM:\nLead drive development across design, integration, qualification, and launch phases.\n\nOptimize recording subsystem tuning for improved head-media compatibility and robust component integration.\n\nDevelop cross-functional features to enhance areal density.\n\nConduct advanced research to increase capacity and reliability.\n\nAbout the role - you will:\nAs an Advanced Recording Intern to support product development which reporting to the Senior Manager of ARS-HDM in Singapore, offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative, innovative, and inclusive environment where curiosity and continuous improvement are valued.\nGain foundational knowledge of HDDs, recording subsystems, and future technologies.\n\nParticipate in engineering activities through on-the-job training with ARS-HDM team members. E.g. HDD bench testing and data analysis.\n\nPerform drive measurements, integration testing, and data analysis. E.g. Downloading big data and doing data mining to find root cause of failure.\n\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams including materials science, mechanical design, and reliability engineering.\n\nDocument findings and present results in technical reports and team meetings.\n\nAbout you:\nAdaptable in fast-paced, multi-priority environments.\n\nDetail-oriented, results-driven, and able to work independently.\n\nEffective communicator with strong interpersonal skills.\n\nAble to commit full time semester internship\nYour experience includes:\nCurrently pursuing in PHD and Master degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Signal Processing, Mechatronics or related field.\n\nBasic understanding of signal processing and sensor data interpretation.\n\nComfortable executing automated test procedures for HDD devices using scripting languages such as Python or MATLAB.\n\nPrior exposure to nanotechnology and magnetic recording systems is beneficial but not essential.\n\nUnderstand Design of Experiment (DOE) and basic statistical modeling.\n\nKnowledge of test equipment such as oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers will be advantageous.\n\nKnowledge of Programming language Matlab or Python is an added advantage.\n\nFamiliar with Microsoft Office (Word/PowerPoint/Excel)\n\nLocation:\nThe Shugart site (named after Seagate’s founder, Al Shugart) is a research and design center. Easily accessible from the One-North MRT Station, many employees choose to take mass transportation to work. Being a purpose-built building, The Shugart has excellent employee recreational facilities. Take an active break at our badminton courts, table tennis tables, in-house gym, and recreation rooms. Our yoga and Zumba classes are very popular. We also offer classes and interest groups in photography, gardening, and foreign languages, and have various on-site celebrations, and community volunteer opportunities\nLocation: Shugart, Singapore\nTravel: None","description_format":"text","description_chars":3387,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"master","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"Singapore","iso":"SG","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":[],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-13T08:52:24Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":33,"band":"fade","label":"Fading","p_open":1,"p_active":0.732,"p_room":0.45,"age_days":21,"expected_fill_days":13,"reasons":["conf:2","velocity","win:tail","comp:junior,brand"],"computed_at":"2026-11-04T06:34:25Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/seagate-hdd-head-disc-mechanical-hdm-integration-data-analytics-intern","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/seagate-hdd-head-disc-mechanical-hdm-integration-data-analytics-intern.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-11-04T12:35:08Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":18937,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-11-05T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":1756651},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=1756651"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fseagate-hdd-head-disc-mechanical-hdm-integration-data-analytics-intern"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fseagate-hdd-head-disc-mechanical-hdm-integration-data-analytics-intern"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fseagate-hdd-head-disc-mechanical-hdm-integration-data-analytics-intern"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/seagate-hdd-head-disc-mechanical-hdm-integration-data-analytics-intern\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fseagate-hdd-head-disc-mechanical-hdm-integration-data-analytics-intern"}],"agent":{"mcp":"https://alion.io/mcp/jobs","mcp_open":"https://alion.io/mcp/open","next":[{"tool":"get_job","arguments":{"id":2430552}},{"tool":"search_jobs","arguments":{"company":"seagate.com","detail":"compact"}},{"tool":"match_people","arguments":{"job_id":2430552},"note":"people open to offers who fit this vacancy"}],"note":"The same data through MCP tools: https://alion.io/mcp/open needs no sign-in (compact searches, postings, people); https://alion.io/mcp with an Alion account has everything.
