We work cross-functionally with Engineering, Supplier Quality, Commodity Management, and global factories to support product development from concept through production in a fast-paced, highly dynamic environment.\nAbout the role - you will:\nAs a Supply Chain / Materials Intern, you will support day-to-day NPI operations while gaining exposure to the full supply chain lifecycle. You will also contribute to process improvements using modern data and AI tools.\nMaterial Planning & Execution\nSupport tracking of material readiness for NPI builds \nMonitor shortages, excess, and delivery status \nCoordinate with internal teams and suppliers to ensure on-time material availability \nData Analysis & Reporting\nAnalyze supply chain data (material status, supplier performance, build readiness) \nDevelop reports and dashboards using Excel and BI tools \nSupport data-driven decision making and improved visibility \nAI & Process Improvement (Key Focus Area)\n Your primary summer project will support an AI-enabled Config Plan analytics initiative. \nYou will help document supply-chain business rules, develop a standardized Supply/Demand analysis for selected components, validate results against the current process, and present recommendations to NPI Materials stakeholders. \nInterest in learning how AI and automation can be applied to practical supply-chain challenges. Prior AI development experience is helpful but not required. \nAssist in analyzing workflows and identifying improvement opportunities \nHelp develop or enhance tools (e.g., dashboards, analytics, automation flows) \nCollaborate with the team on innovative solutions to improve efficiency and decision-making \nCross-functional Collaboration\nPartner with:Engineering teams \nProcurement / Commodity Management \nPlanning and Factory teams \nCommunicate material status, risks, and updates across stakeholders \n\nNPI Program Support\nSupport material activities for new product builds \nHelp track key milestones and highlight supply chain risks \nGain exposure to product development and launch cycles \nAbout you:\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills \nStrong communication and organizational skills \nCuriosity and interest in applying AI tools to real-world business problems \nYour experience includes:\nAble to organize and analyze data in Microsoft Excel using tools such as formulas, lookups, pivot tables, charts, or equivalent features \nInterest in supply chain, logistics, procurement, or operations \nExperience with data analysis, visualization, or automation tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Power Automate, Python, etc.) \nExposure to ERP systems (SAP or similar)\nCurrently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business / Operations, Engineering, or related field, and returning for classes in Fall 2027. \nWhat you will gain:\nHands-on experience in NPI supply chain and materials planning \nExposure to cross-functional collaboration in a global technology company \nExperience applying data analytics and AI tools to real supply chain challenges \nUnderstanding of how supply chain supports product development, engineering builds, and manufacturing \nLocation:\nOur Longmont product-design campus is nestled against the foothills with exceptional views of the Rocky Mountains. The individual base wage is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Seagate also offers Interns 12 paid holidays and a minimum of 48 hours of paid sick leave.
