# Advanced Media Characterization Senior Engineer

About our group: You will be working in the HAMR Media Recording Physics and Advanced Development group at the Seagate Recording Media Research Center in Fremont, CA, where we develop the state of art magnetic, optical and thermal, spin-stand recording characterization for recording Physics understanding and design directions for HAMR magnetic recording media to further extend data storage capacity. The team works closely with other teams in the organization such as the Sputter, testing, metrology and equipment groups, the materials science lab, and collaborators in the various Seagate organizations around the world. Together we develop the next generation of storage devices for cloud storage and other emerging applications. About the role - you will: Work in the Recording Physics and Advanced Development group at Seagate Recording Media R&D center to develop and improve existing magnetic characterization, spin-stand recording testing and data analytics for studying the media magnetic, electrical and thermal properties, and compare with simulations and recording data to understand recording physics of HAMR (Heat Assited Magnetic Recording) and future novel recording media, such as
