With over 45 years of technology leadership, Seagate delivers trusted storage solutions for Cloud, Enterprise, Edge, and Consumer markets, powering the infrastructure behind AI, digital transformation, and the world’s growing data economy.\nOur Software Engineering organization develops embedded software for Seagate storage products, combining strong software fundamentals with close-to-hardware design to deliver reliable, high-performance product behavior.\nAbout the role - you will:\nAnalyze, design, implement, debug, and maintain embedded software components in C/C++.\nApply computer science fundamentals to solve product software problems.\nBuild modular, testable software with clear interfaces, appropriate abstraction, and maintainable structure.\nImprove embedded software architecture for reuse, performance, reliability, and long-term ownership.\nTroubleshoot software and system-level issues across embedded software, hardware, and storage product behavior.\nParticipate in code reviews, design discussions, and defect prevention practices to improve software quality\nAbout you:\nYou want to build reliable embedded systems with software that is understandable, testable, extensible, and sustainable.\nYou are curious about how software interacts with hardware, operating systems, storage architecture, and product behavior.\nYou break down complex problems, reason from first principles, and communicate technical tradeoffs clearly.\nYour experience includes:\nStrong foundation in core computer science concepts, including operating systems, concurrency, memory management, and computer architecture.\nProgramming experience in C/C++, Rust, Python or similar languages.\nUnderstanding embedded systems, resource-constrained design, hardware/software interaction, and modern development practices.\nBachelor’s degree in engineering related field (i.e. Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Computer Engineering, Materials, Physics, or Information Technology) and 0+ years of experience\nYou might also have:\nExperience with embedded operating systems, device drivers, storage systems, real-time software, or low-level platform software.\nExposure to modular architecture, interface contracts, testable design, build systems, CI/CD, or software quality tools.\nKnowledge of HDD devices, storage protocols, system-level performance analysis, or storage subsystem topologies.\nLocation:\nThis position may be based at either our Longmont, CO or Shakopee, MN campus.\nOur Longmont product-design campus is nestled against the foothills with exceptional views of the Rocky Mountains. The individual salary is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.\nSeagate offers comprehensive benefits to its eligible employees, including, but not limited to, , eligibility to participate in discretionary bonus program, medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, short-and long-term disability, 401(k), employee stock purchase plan, health savings account, dependent care, and healthcare spending accounts.
