This entry-level position works under the guidance of senior engineers and facility leaders to support capital projects, system reliability efforts, energy efficiency initiatives, and daily facility operations.\nThe ideal candidate is a recent Mechanical Engineering graduate or an early-career engineer with a strong technical foundation, a willingness to learn, and an interest in supporting complex facility and manufacturing environments.\nAbout the role - you will:\nAssist with the design, analysis, and improvement of facility mechanical systems, including:\nAir handling units (AHUs)\nChilled water systems\nCooling towers\nHeating systems\nExhaust and ventilation systems\nCleanroom and critical environment HVAC systems (if applicable)\nSupport the evaluation and optimization of facility water systems, including:\nDomestic water systems\nProcess water systems\nCooling water systems\nWater treatment systems\nPumps and distribution networks\nAssist in preparing engineering calculations, equipment specifications, technical reports, and construction documents.\nSupport engineering reviews to help ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and company requirements.\nProject Support & Capital Improvements\nSupport facility upgrade and capital improvement projects from planning through commissioning.\nAssist with developing project scopes, schedules, budgets, and cost estimates.\nCoordinate with contractors, consultants, suppliers, and internal stakeholders under the guidance of senior engineers.\nReview engineering drawings, equipment submittals, and technical documentation.\nSupport construction activities, startup, commissioning, and system troubleshooting.\nFacility Operations & Reliability\nProvide engineering support to facility operations and maintenance teams.\nParticipate in troubleshooting equipment failures and operational issues.\nAssist with root cause investigations and implementation of corrective actions.\nMonitor system performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, and system uptime.\nSupport preventive and predictive maintenance programs for mechanical systems.\nCompliance & Safety\nSupport compliance with building codes, mechanical codes, environmental regulations, and safety requirements.\nParticipate in facility safety reviews, risk assessments, and hazard analysis activities.\nAssist with energy management and sustainability initiatives.\nMaintain engineering documentation, equipment records, and system drawings.\nProfessional Development\nDevelop technical knowledge of facility mechanical systems and engineering best practices.\nLearn industry standards, codes, and design principles applicable to facility operations.\nParticipate in training and cross-functional projects to build engineering and project management skills.\nCollaborate with senior engineers and technical experts to develop engineering expertise.\nAbout you:\nBasic understanding of mechanical engineering principles and thermodynamics.\nFamiliarity with HVAC, fluid systems, heat transfer, and mechanical equipment fundamentals.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office applications.\nAbility to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.\nEffective verbal and written communication skills.\nAbility to work independently while collaborating within a team environment.\nYour experience includes:\n0-3 years of engineering experience, including internships, co-op assignments, or relevant project experience.\nBachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering\nLocation:\nOur Bloomington, MN campus (Normandale) spans two suburbs, Edina and Bloomington, and serves as the Recording Head development and manufacturing arm of Seagate. The individual salary is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
