The team works with engineering data from laboratory and manufacturing test processes to identify failure signatures, improve analysis consistency, and provide timely technical findings to product and reliability teams. The intern will work with failure analysis engineers in Singapore while contributing tools that can support a broader engineering workflow.\nAbout the role - you will:\nDevelop Python-based failure analysis tools that reduce manual data preparation, repetitive plotting, and report-generation work.\nWork with engineers to understand current failure analysis workflows, identify efficiency gaps, and translate user needs into practical tool features.\nRetrieve, clean, combine, and analyze structured engineering data from files, databases, or internal data services.\nCreate clear visualizations and interactive dashboards that help engineers compare drive, head, operation, test sequence, and failure-mode data.\nAutomate recurring analysis tasks such as filtering, trend detection, failure-signature comparison, chart generation, and summary export.\nValidate tool outputs against existing engineering methods and improve usability based on engineer feedback.\nDocument the tool architecture, data assumptions, user workflow, and maintenance steps so the solution can be extended after the internship.\nSupport other engineering analysis and process-improvement assignments when required.\nAbout you:\nCurious about how software and data analysis can solve real engineering problems.\nAble to break down an open-ended problem, test ideas, and iterate based on user feedback.\nCareful with data quality, technical details, and validation of analysis results.\nSelf-motivated and able to work independently while collaborating closely with engineers.\nComfortable communicating technical findings and asking questions when requirements or data are unclear.\nYour experience includes:\nCurrently pursuing a Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Software Engineering, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.\nHands-on Python programming experience. Python is required for this internship.\nWorking knowledge of data processing and analysis using libraries such as pandas and NumPy.\nExperience creating plots or dashboards using tools such as Plotly, Matplotlib, Streamlit, Dash, or similar technologies.\nUnderstanding of software-development fundamentals, including modular code, debugging, version control, and basic testing.\nAbility to communicate in written and spoken English.\nLocation:\nThe Shugart site (named after Seagate’s founder, Al Shugart) is a research and design center.
