Could you drive change and make a difference?\n If so, don’t miss out on this opportunity to join a world leader in the facility that produces ~25% of the world’s recording heads.\nGraduate Process Engineer/Scientists (Ref: 15393)\nAbout Our Group:\nThe Process Engineering Group is responsible for delivering world leading wafer manufacturing processes for volume production of recording heads for hard disc drives. We are currently undergoing an exciting transition to the next generation of recording head technology. We are looking for high calibre graduates to join us and take on the challenging roles of leading this transition in a world class high-tech manufacturing facility.\nAbout the role - you will:\nThe successful candidates will work within our engineering team to help deliver world-leading technology and process capability. Your role will involve setting up, controlling, and improving processes to deliver the best product performance and yield. You may also work across Process Engineering and R&D teams, to help deliver breakthrough processes for key technologies to enable volume production on our next generation products.\nYou will:\nResponsible for process fabrication and characterisation of thin film recording heads\nWork with advanced manufacturing nano-technologies such as; Photolithography, Vacuum Etch and deposition, Electroplating, Chemical Mechanical Polishing, Advanced Metrology techniques and Automatic Inspections techniques.\nDefine and carry out process optimisation projects for recording head performance and yield improvement.\nWorking with Equipment Vendors for qualification of new equipment and processes and introduction of new technology.\nEngage with the Development and Integration teams for new process qualification and new product introduction.\nParticipate in cross functional teams to support product and technology transitions, yield improvements and process optimisations.\nSupport our production teams to improve OEE (Overall Equipment Efficiency) and the cycle time of wafer manufacturing.\nEngage in extensive training and travel to support you in your new role.\nAbout you:\nCreative, self-motivated individuals with a strong STEM background.\nStrong analytical skills and proven problem solver,\nA good communicator with excellent presentation and written skills.\nA strong team player who works effectively in a cross-functional team environment.\nYour experience includes:\n\nRecently graduated (2-3 years) from or in the final year of your degree in relevant Engineering/Science related discipline (Bachelor, Master)\n\nRecent PhD graduates/candidates are also encouraged to apply\nYou may also have:\nAdditional qualification and experience in materials science, magnetics, chemistry, physics, and electronic engineering, and other related fields\nExperience and knowledge of nanotechnology and wafer fabrication\nKnowledge and experience in data analytical techniques.\nDemonstrates practical AI literacy, using approved AI tools responsibly to research problems, analyse data, improve workflows, and validate outputs while applying strong engineering/scientific judgement.\nWhy Join Us?\nWork on cutting-edge technologies in a world-class wafer manufacturing facility.\nOpportunities for career growth and professional development.\nCollaborative and innovative work culture.\nPlease demonstrate on your Cover Letter or CV how you meet the criteria set out in the job description identified above.\nCompleted applications should be submitted no later than midnight on 8th November 2026\nThis is a Full-Time position working 39 hours per week, onsite in our Springtown Office in Derry/Londonderry.\n*Please note that you must be eligible to live and work in the UK. without the requirement to be sponsored by Seagate.
