Our work spans fundamental materials research, thin-film and process development, characterization, and integration of new media technologies.\nAbout the role - you will:\nResearch and develop advanced magnetic materials, nanoscale magnetic structures, and magnetic multilayer thin-film architectures for heat-assisted magnetic recording (HAMR) and future recording technologies.\nInvestigate relationships among material composition, crystal structure, microstructure, interfaces, multilayer architecture, magnetic properties, thermal & optical behavior, and spin-dependent phenomena in nano-scale structures, to guide media design.\nBroad background in magnetic, optical and general thin film characterization techniques a plus.\nConduct experimental work in thin-film deposition and fabrication, multilayer stack development, process optimization, magnetic and structural characterization, thermal characterization, and quantitative data analysis.\nCollaborate with scientists and engineers across multidisciplinary R&D teams to advance promising concepts from fundamental investigation toward experimentally demonstrated recording-media solutions.\nAbout you:\nHighly driven, and a focused learner who enjoys solving complex technical problems.\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and experimental skills.\nGood written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively\nYour experience includes:\nKnowledge of magnetic materials, nanoscale magnetism, or magnetic properties\nBackground in thin film fabrication, multilayers, heterostructures, or interface engineering\nProficiency in experimental design, quantitative data analysis, and interpretation of physical mechanisms\nBachelor’s degree in engineering related field (i.e. Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Computer Engineering, Materials, Physics, or Information Technology) and 8+ years of experience or master’s degree in the same and 6+ years’ experience or PhD and 3+ years’ experience or equivalent experience and education.\nYou might also have:\nSpintronics, spin-dependent transport, or magnetization dynamics\nMagnetic, structural, chemical, thermal, or microstructural characterization\nHAMR, magnetic recording, or related data storage technologies\nLocation:\nOur Gold LEED-certified Fremont product-design campus drives innovation, bringing together a diverse set of engineering, design, operations, support and administrative teams.
