We are seeking a mechatronics/mechanical engineering student looking for an exciting and fulfilling summer 2027 internship to work alongside our team for twelve weeks at our Shakopee Minnesota design center. This is a great opportunity for you to gain first-hand experience and expand your knowledge base in the world of product design.\nAbout the role - you will:\nWorking on a focused project that will include using SolidWorks to design and build measurement fixtures for hard disc drive components.\nConduct high-accuracy measurements of various performance parameters of these components using state of the art equipment \nComplete data analysis to summarize results and recommend next steps.\nShare your findings and make recommendations to improve existing designs and for potential use on future products. \nAbout you:\n· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.\n· Excellent oral and written communication skills.\n· Self-motivated and detail oriented.\n· Strong affinity for a hands-on approach to engineering and interacting with various engineering disciplines.\n· Team player, responsible, and motivated.\nYour experience includes:\n· Able to work 100% on site during the internship.\n· Able to use SolidWorks to design and detail components\n· Able to conduct extensive lab measurements and testing using state of the art equipment, following equipment training.\n· Skillful in using Python to write testing scripts.\n· Experience with mechanical instrumentation and tools.\n· Prior experience or exposure in mechanical design experience is a plus.\n· Current 2nd year or 3rd year Bachelor's student with major in Mechatronics/Mechanical Engineering and must be enrolled in Fall 2027.\nLocation:\n\nOur Shakopee campus is located 25 minutes southwest of Minneapolis in a setting with a rural vibe - it overlooks a horse racing track and stables, yet it has great entertainment venues close by as well. With wide-open spaces, the campus has plenty of space for running, biking, shooting some hoops or playing volleyball over lunch. If working out is your thing, the on-site fully equipped fitness center hosts wellness programs, tournaments and group workouts. Hungry? Seagate offers an on-site café with freshly sourced foods and specialty coffees, or if you prefer, drive to one of many restaurants just minutes away.\nThe estimated base wage range for this position is $25-$31/hr. The individual base wage is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.\nSeagate offers comprehensive benefits to its eligible Interns, including, but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, and participation in the employee stock purchase plan. Seagate also offers Interns 12 paid holidays and a minimum of 48 hours of paid sick leave.
