We are seeking a mechatronics/mechanical engineering student looking for an exciting and fulfilling summer 2027 internship to work alongside our team for twelve weeks at our Longmont Colorado design center. This is an awesome opportunity for you to gain first-hand experience and expand your knowledge base in the world of product design.\nAbout the role - you will:\nAs an engineering development intern working in the Hardware Engineering group here at Seagate, you will have the opportunity to participate in some of the key areas of test fixture design and development. You'll be on a focused project that will include using SolidWorks to design and build a deflection measurement fixture for the hard disc drive at different boundary conditions. You will utilize the new fixture to characterize deflection states using a Smartscope, test system-level impacts using a scanning Laser Doppler Vibrometer, and complete data analysis to summarize results and recommend the next steps.\nThe results from this work will give you the opportunity to share the results and make recommendations to improve existing designs and for potential use on future products.\nAbout you:\nExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills. \nExcellent oral and written communication skills. \nSelf-motivated and detail oriented. \nStrong affinity for a hands-on approach to engineering and interacting with various engineering disciplines. \nTeam player, responsible, and motivated. \nYour experience includes:\nAble to work 100% on site during the internship. \nAble to use SolidWorks to design and detail components \nAble to conduct extensive lab measurement and testing using SLDV, Smartscope, Keyence and MATLAB station, etc. \nSkillful in using Python to write testing scripts. \nExperience with mechanical instrumentation and tools. \nPrior experience or exposure in mechanical design experience as a plus. \nCurrent 2nd year or 3rd year Bachelor's student with major in Mechatronics/Mechanical Engineering.\nLocation:\nOur Longmont product-design campus is nestled against the foothills with exceptional views of the Rocky Mountains. The individual base wage is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Seagate also offers Interns 12 paid holidays and a minimum of 48 hours of paid sick leave.
