The team collaborates with semiconductor design houses, startups, universities, and research consortia to transform breakthrough technologies into manufacturable solutions.\nAbout the role - you will:\nBe responsible to identify, evaluate, and qualify advanced memory technologies for future Seagate products.\nDrive memory technology assessments across the entire lifecycle, from early-stage research and proof-of-concept demonstrations through component qualification and product integration.\nWork closely with memory suppliers, startups, research institutions, and internal engineering teams to evaluate technology readiness,\nIdentify risks and opportunities and develop qualification strategies for next-generation memory solutions.\nCollaborate across device engineering, system architecture, product engineering, reliability, and test organizations to guide technology decisions that impact future Seagate products.\nDevelop and execute electrical characterization, reliability, and qualification plans aligned with applicable industry standards.\nInvestigate devices and arrays behavior, performance tradeoffs, and failure mechanisms through design of experiments.\nTranslate findings into actionable feedback for process, materials, and design teams. Present risk assessments, and recommendations to engineering teams and leadership.\nDevelop, validate, and enhance test infrastructure including test methodology, laboratory capabilities, test programs/software, and data-analysis frameworks.\nAnalyze large and complex data sets to identify trends, characterize risk, and provide recommendations for process, design, and product improvements.\nMonitor industry and academic developments in memory technologies through conferences and external collaborations, identify opportunities relevant to Seagate’s future products.\nBuild knowledge of Seagate storage technologies and contribute to broader research and development initiatives.\nAbout you:\nProvide clear technical direction and use engineering judgement to guide memory technology decisions.\nUtilize experimental data, statistical methods, and root cause analysis to resolve complex technical problems.\nBuild productive relationships and work with cross functional teams and departments globally.\nSelf-driven professional with strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills,\nExperience with statistical analysis and large-scale data processing.\nYour experience includes:\nHands-on experience characterizing and qualifying one or more memory technologies such as DRAM, NAND Flash, MRAM, ReRAM, PCRAM, Optane-class memory, or Ferroelectric Memory (FeRAM/FeFET).\nThis role requires deep expertise in semiconductor memory devices, characterization methodologies, reliability engineering, and qualification processes, along with the ability to influence technology direction and business decisions.\nHands-on knowledge of lab test equipment, automated probers, and ATE memory testers\nStrong programming and automation skills using C/C++, Python for tester and test Program development.\nBachelor’s degree in engineering related field (i.e. Electrical, Chemical, Computer Engineering, Materials, Physics, or Information Technology) and 8+ years of experience or master’s degree in the same and 6+ years’ experience or PhD and 3+ years’ experience or equivalent experience and education.\nYou might also have:\nTrack record of adopting AI tools to streamline technical work.\nFamiliarity with semiconductor manufacturing, wafer fabrication processes, process integration, and technology development workflows\nExperience working with external research organizations, universities, startups, or semiconductor ecosystem partners.\nLocation:\nOur Shakopee campus is located 25 minutes southwest of Minneapolis in a setting with a rural vibe - it overlooks a horse racing track and stables, yet it has great entertainment venues close by as well. The individual salary is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.\nSeagate offers comprehensive benefits to its eligible employees, including, but not limited to, , eligibility to participate in discretionary bonus program, medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, short-and long-term disability, 401(k), employee stock purchase plan, health savings account, dependent care, and healthcare spending accounts.
