Our work includes standalone Java applications, web service modernization, Linux-based operational automation, and MDW shares housekeeping for large-scale manufacturing data.\nThis internship is ideal for students who are interested in enterprise Java development, Shell scripting, RESTful services, Python-based AI solutions, Generative AI, and intelligent automation.\nAbout the role - you will:\nDevelop, enhance, test, and maintain standalone Java applications supporting manufacturing and operational workflows.\nAssist in converting legacy application functions and interfaces into secure, maintainable RESTful web services.\nDevelop Shell scripts to automate file movement, validation, logging, monitoring, alerting, archival, and housekeeping activities in Linux/Unix environments.\nSupport MDW share housekeeping by designing reliable processes to move very large folders, including folders containing more than 10,000 files, from active MDW shares to archive MDW shares.\nImplement appropriate error handling, restartability, reconciliation, audit logging, and performance checks for large-volume file transfer processes.\nBuild Python utilities and FastAPI-based services that can integrate with Java applications, automation workflows, or internal tools.\nExplore Generative AI and LLM-based use cases using frameworks such as LangChain and LangGraph for knowledge retrieval, log analysis, troubleshooting assistance, and workflow automation.\nCollaborate with developers, business analysts, infrastructure teams, and subject matter experts to gather requirements and deliver practical solutions.\nPerform unit testing, troubleshooting, technical documentation, source-code management, and deployment support.\nAbout you:\nStrong foundation in Java programming, object-oriented programming, collections, exception handling, file I/O, and multithreading concepts.\nGood Shell scripting skills and confidence working with Linux/Unix commands, filesystems, permissions, processes, cron, SSH/SFTP, and large file sets.\nInterest in learning enterprise manufacturing applications, system integration, automation, and production support practices.\nAnalytical and methodical problem-solving approach, with attention to data integrity, operational safety, and error recovery.\nHighly independent and able to work with guidance from mentors while taking ownership of assigned deliverables.\nAdaptable, proactive, and comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document designs, test results, and operating instructions.\nYour experience includes:\nPursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or related discipline.\nJava development, including hands-on academic, personal, or internship projects.\nLinux/Unix and Shell scripting for automation and file-processing tasks.\nBasic SQL and relational database concepts; exposure to Oracle or PostgreSQL is an advantage.\nUnderstanding REST APIs, JSON, HTTP methods, API authentication, and web service integration; Spring Boot exposure is preferred.\nPython programming and exposure to FastAPI for building lightweight APIs or backend services.\nBasic understanding of AI, Machine Learning, Generative AI, Large Language Models, embeddings, vector databases, prompt engineering, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).\nExposure to AI application frameworks and tools such as LangChain, LangGraph, Chainlit, OpenAI-compatible APIs, or similar technologies.\nFamiliarity with Git/GitLab, code reviews, CI/CD, Agile development, Docker, or Kubernetes is an advantage.\nExperience handling large numbers of files, batch processing, data archival, checksums, rsync, or parallel file-transfer techniques is an advantage.\nCommitment to responsible AI practices, including data privacy, secure handling of enterprise information, output validation, and human review.\nLocation:\nOur Woodlands site is one of the largest electronics manufacturing sites in Singapore, housing our recording media operations. Spread over three sites, it is easily accessible via bus or from the MRT Station, with many employees taking mass transportation to work.
