Our goals include improving wafer process manufacturability, throughput, and recording head device performance.\nThe MPI team manages wafer builds and engineering optimizations involving lasers and laser light paths, plasmonic transducers, electronic and magnetic elements, material selection, and thermal management in support of Seagate's Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR) technology.\nWe work closely with Wafer Operations, Wafer Process Development, Wafer Design, and Product Engineering teams to deliver next-generation recording technologies to high-volume manufacturing.\nAbout the role - you will:\nEngage in the development and integration of new reader and writer technologies, including Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR).\nFocus on process manufacturability and readiness as new technologies transition to volume production.\nPrepare, document, and present technical results to a variety of audiences.\nDemonstrate sound judgment when evaluating the technical and business impacts of process change recommendations.\nDesign and execute experiments that generate meaningful and statistically valid results.\nActively contribute to troubleshooting material, manufacturing process, and product design issues.\nDevelop expertise within a specialized discipline such as lithography, vacuum processes, plating, CMP, metrology, or configuration/product support within the new process launch environment.\nCollaborate with personnel across multiple organizational levels, from technicians and operators to engineering leadership.\nBuild strong working relationships through effective communication and collaboration.\nProvide technical recommendations and support the resolution of critical process and manufacturing challenges.\nDevelop skills in Machine Learning, Generative AI, and Data Science applications.\nSupport and develop automation solutions using Microsoft Power Automate, Python, and OCAP methodologies.\nAbout you:\nThis is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys being part of a team that develops state-of-the-art technologies and products.\nContributing technical expertise within a highly collaborative engineering environment.\nDeveloping effective solutions to complex engineering challenges.\nWorking independently on complex technical process and failure analysis projects.\nLeading project workstreams and driving process improvements within a complex manufacturing environment.\nWorking across multiple process disciplines as a process integration engineer.\nPresenting technical data, analyses, and recommendations to cross-functional teams and management.\nYour experience includes:\nBachelor's Degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline and 5+ years of experience; or a Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline and 3+ years of experience; or a PhD and 0+ years of experience; or equivalent education and experience.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.\nAbility to work in a cleanroom environment and occasionally support off-shift manufacturing issues.\nDemonstrated experience applying Design of Experiments (DOE), statistical analysis, and statistical process control techniques.\nAbility to travel occasionally to international manufacturing locations.\nYou Might Also Have:\nExperience in semiconductor or wafer fabrication and/or data storage product development.\nExperience in yield improvement, failure analysis, or CAD applications.\nExperience working as a process integrator or generalist engineer.\nMaterials Science background.\nExperience applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) techniques to engineering challenges.\nThe estimated base salary range for this position is $94,140.00 - $134,625.00.
