We are currently undergoing an exciting transition to the next generation of recording head technology. We are looking for high calibre Engineers and Scientists to join us to take on the challenging roles of leading this transition in a world class high-tech manufacturing facility.\nAbout the role - you will:\nJoin our dynamic Process Engineering team at Seagate’s Springtown wafer manufacturing facility. We are seeking experienced Process Engineers and Scientists to support advanced technology development and high-volume manufacturing for next-generation recording heads, including HAMR (Heat-Assisted Magnetic Recording) technology.\nKey Responsibilities:\nDevelop, optimise, and sustain processes in one or more of the following areas:\no Photolithography\no Vacuum Deposition & Etch\no Electroplating\no Chemical Mechanical Polishing (CMP)\no Metrology, Automated Inspection & Electrical Testing.\nImplement process control and optimisation strategies to ensure process stability and yield improvement.\nDrive continuous improvement through data analysis, SPC, and through root cause investigations.\nImprove product quality by defect reduction, variance reduction and DOE’s (Design of experiments)\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams on new technology transfers and process integration.\nSupport qualification of new equipment, materials and recipes for emerging technologies and HAMR volume production.\nImprove OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) to maximise output and support production throughput schedules\nAbout you:\nQualifications and experience\nGraduates in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, Chemistry, or related fields are encouraged to apply.\nLooking for a minimum of 3 years relevant engineering/Scientist experience with expertise in any of the listed areas will be highly valued.\nStrong background in process control, optimization, and statistical analysis.\nCandidates with optical, electronic, or photonic experience are highly encouraged to apply to meet the challenges of HAMR technology.\nExcellent communication and problem-solving skills\nExcellent data analytical skills and experience in data science techniques and process/workflow automation.\nYour experience includes:\nExperienced process engineers and scientists with expertise in any of the listed areas will be highly valued.\nDemonstrates practical AI literacy, using approved AI tools responsibly to research problems, analyse data, improve workflows, and validate outputs while applying strong engineering/scientific judgement.\nWhy Join Us?\nWork on cutting-edge technologies in a world-class wafer manufacturing facility.\nOpportunities for career growth and professional development.\nCollaborative and innovative work culture.\nPlease demonstrate on your Cover Letter or CV how you meet the criteria set out in the job description identified above.\nCompleted applications should be submitted no later than midnight on 8th November 2026\nThis is a Full-Time position working 39 hours per week, onsite in our Springtown Office in Derry/Londonderry.\n*Please note that you must be eligible to live and work in the UK. without the requirement to be sponsored by Seagate.
