The Assistant Project Manager II is responsible to assist in coordinating internal and external resources in support of meeting specific program cost, schedule, quality, and safety goals.\nThis role does not have any direct reports but is required to collaborate with the Integrated Program Team and influence peers and Functional specialists related to their assigned scope.\nWhile in their role they will be expected to apply Project Management best practices and support the further development of best practice within their team.\nNote: This position qualifies for an optional hybrid work schedule after 90 days of onsite work and onboarding. Employee will be subject to the terms of the Flexible Work Policy Agreement.\nWhat you'll do\nAssists senior members of the Program team in coordination and execution of assigned program activities and deliverables.\n\nWorks closely with various Functions ensuring the Program delivers on expectations.\n\nAssists in generation and review of program deliverables including requests for proposal, estimates, proposals, contracts, risks and business cases.\n\nMonitors weekly program metrics to measure departmental, supplier and contractor program performance and risks.\n\nProduces weekly and monthly program reports that measure program performance against established goals and objectives.\n\nDistributes summary reports to senior management, identifies variances from plan, and assists in developing and monitoring corrective actions.\n\nProvides Program delivery support to the Project Managers and Program Director.\n\nEscalates Program delivery issues to the Project Managers and Program Director.\n\nDelivers work in accordance with Quality Management Systems.\n\nDevelops expertise in deliverables.\n\nAligns deliverables to contract requirements.\n\nDisplays professional curiosity and proactive leadership.\n\nProgressively develops delegation skills.\n\nProgressively leads on project deliverables.\n\nServes as orientation support for new APMs.\n\nWhat you'll bring\nBachelors Degree or diploma in Engineering, Commerce, or Project Management is preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.\n\nMinimum 3 years experience in shipbuilding, manufacturing, or construction or equivalent\n\nExperience working with engineering, planning or production in the shipbuilding or other complex manufacturing/construction industry.\n\nAcquired CAPM and/or actively working towards PMP certification.\n\nProgram management and project management skills.\n\nStrong communication skills (written, presentation, spoken) with ability to liaise across teams/stakeholders and provide structured support to senior PM staff.\n\nExperience working with project management software/tools for scheduling, reporting, and cost tracking.\n\nDemonstrated ability to coordinate deliverables and documentation between engineering, procurement, and production.\n\nExperience with document control and reporting practices within a PMO environment.\n\nStrong interpersonal skills, with ability to liaise across teams and provide structured support to senior PM staff.\n\nWhy you'll love working here\nThis is a full-time, permanent position. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate’s skills and experience as well as position location and internal equity.
