Project Manager I identifies and resolves project issues, maintains accurate project documentation, and regularly communicates status and risks to the Program Director or other senior management groups.\nThis role may have a small number of direct reports and is required to lead the Integrated Program Team on their assigned scope while influencing other stakeholders such as Functional Managers and external Customer specialists related to their assigned scope, as well as the broader PMO function.\nWhile in their role they will be expected to apply Project Management best practices and be responsible for the application of Project Management best practices of their direct reports.\nNote: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 2 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.\nWhat you’ll do\nInitiates, sets, and delivers Program goals for their assigned scope that realize Program goals.\nProvides project management expertise in the coordination and execution of assigned activities and deliverables. \nDirects the Integrated Program team in the delivery of the assigned scope against cost, schedule, quality, and safety goals.\nSupports in the generation of management/customer reporting, proposals, business cases, estimates, risk mitigation actions, plans and schedules.\nControls and monitors the work - collating variance analysis and key performance metrics to measure project performance.\nEscalates project delivery, commercial risk, and financial issues to Program Director.\nAccountable for ensuring that all work is delivered in accordance with our QMS.\nAccountable for working level client relationship outcomes and contract requirements against assigned scope.\nLeads development of APMs on the Program team by providing mentorship and training.\nDelegates to and empowers APMs - enhances their subject matter expertise.\nWhat you’ll bring\nBachelor’s degree or diploma in Engineering, Commerce, or Project Management or equivalent combination of education and experience.\nMinimum 4 years demonstrated experience in heavy industry such as shipbuilding, manufacturing, or construction, with demonstrated increased levels of responsibility.\nDemonstrated experience handling sophisticated projects, bids, or proposals with proven ability to meet or exceed commitments in a fast paced, diverse environment with rapid change and competing priorities.\nDemonstrated experience leading people and significant budgets in a matrix environment.\nActively working toward or have acquired the PMP certification.\nDetailed understanding of Project and Program management techniques and methods.\nProficient in planning and executing medium-to-large Program scopes (e.g., systems packages, outfitting programs, Test and Trials).\nKnowledge of integrated project planning tools (e.g., Primavera P6, Aras etc), Earned Value Management (EVM), resource planning/management, and performance metrics.\nExceptional communication (written, presentation, spoken) and issue resolution skills across key stakeholders.\nDemonstrated ability to manage risk, change, and contribute to cost control activities.\nExtensive understanding of Program Lifecycle Management methodology, phases, production milestones, and classification authority deliverables.\nFamiliarity with Government contracting and performance management of major subcontractors.\nWhy you'll love working here\nThis is a full-time, permanent position. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate’s skills and experience as well as position location and internal equity.
