The role ensures compliance with legislation, client requirements, and company standards while supporting operational excellence and worker wellbeing.\nNote: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 50 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.\nThe following schedule is available:\nAfternoon: 3:30pm to 11:30pm (Monday to Friday)\nWhat you’ll do\nConduct site inspections, audits, and field safety verifications. \nSupport pre-job planning, hazard assessments, FLRAs, and permit-to-work processes. \nCoach supervisors and employees on hazard recognition, safe work practices, and risk management. \nLead and support investigations of incidents, injuries, near misses, property damage, and environmental events. \nTrack corrective actions to completion and verify effectiveness. \nMonitor high-risk work activities, including confined space entry, working at heights, critical lifts, excavations, hot work, and energy isolation. \nCoordinate safety training, emergency response exercises, and awareness initiatives. \nSupport contractor safety management, including performance monitoring and compliance verification. \nPrepare and communicate HSE performance metrics and reports. \nProvide leadership and mentorship to Field Safety Advisors while partnering with internal stakeholders and external contractors to strengthen safety performance.\nWhat you’ll bring\nDiploma or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field. \n5+ years of safety experience in construction, industrial, manufacturing, marine, or heavy industry environments. \n3+ years of leadership or supervisory experience. \nNCSO, CRSP, CHSC, or equivalent professional designation preferred. \nStrong knowledge of incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action management. \nExperience conducting risk assessments, hazard identification, and control verification. \nProficiency in safety audits, inspections, and regulatory compliance programs. \nExperience developing and supporting emergency response plans and initiatives. \nKnowledge of contractor safety management and permit-to-work systems. \nSound understanding of occupational health, industrial hygiene, and workplace exposure controls. \nWorking knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations and COR certification requirements. \nStrong communication, coaching, and stakeholder engagement skills. \nAbility to access active construction and industrial worksites and perform field-based safety activities. \nAbility to wear required PPE and travel between multiple work locations as needed.\nWhy you’ll love working here\nThis is a full-time, permanent position. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate’s skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity.
