As Solution Architect you own the target architecture for our GCP platform and the way we work with architecture. You work as a pair with our Tech Lead for GCP, who owns how it gets built, and you know the platform and its codebase well. You report to the Head of Department and are a member of the department's management team, together with our team managers and the other Solution Architects.\nWhat you will be doing\nCreate, maintain, and drive the target architecture for our GCP platform, in line with the bank's domain architecture and business objectives.\n\nDefine managed, vetted solutions for standard patterns that application teams across the bank can reuse, together with the Solution Architects in the domain.\n\nEstablish and maintain structured architecture practices, including documentation.\n\nDefine ADRs that the Tech Lead and the team take into implementation and test your designs against what the team learns from building.\n\nDrive architectural decisions through the bank's architecture governance.\n\nSupport larger initiatives that start from a use case, where application teams need architecture support to land on the platform. You do this jointly with the other Solution Architects.\n\nProactively identify improvements and take the lead when the direction is unclear.\n\nAdvise development teams and architects and coordinate with the other Solution Architects to keep GCP, Azure and AWS coherent.\n\nContribute to the department's direction and ways of working as part of the management team.\n\nWho you are\nYou are a driven, proactive, and collaborative architect who takes ownership and enjoys solving complex problems. You make complicated things simple and can explain a design to a developer, a security specialist, and a manager in the same week. You share what you know and contribute to an open and transparent team.\nSkills and experience\nCloud architect certification, primarily Google Cloud (e.g. Professional Cloud Architect). A comparable certification in another cloud is accepted.\n\nUniversity degree and 6-10 years of relevant experience, including several years of architecture or senior engineering in public cloud, with GCP as your main platform.\n\nExperience of owning architecture that is used broadly by many teams in a large organization.\n\nStrong knowledge of cloud platform architecture: landing zones, IAM, networking, security, observability, and resilience.\n\nExperience from establishing structured architecture work (decision records, models, documentation) and driving decisions through formal architecture governance.\n\nSolid understanding of Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD, e.g. Terraform and GitHub Actions, and the ability to work in the codebase.\n\nAbility to turn business needs into solutions, and to collaborate across domains and managerial levels, both business and IT.\n\nExperience from leading architecture work without formal line management.\n\nFluent English, spoken and written.\n\nNice to have\nExperience of Azure or AWS.\n\nFinancial services or another regulated industry.\n\nDriving larger technical shifts across several teams.\n\nKubernetes/GKE, policy-as-code or
