We inspire and empower an open, collaborative culture that embraces ongoing professional development, recognition, diversity, and - most importantly - you.\nMake your impact at Secretariat.\nRESPONSIBILITIES\nAs a member of Secretariat’s expanding disputes practice, you will apply your exceptional analytical and quantitative skills to a myriad of complex damages, accounting, economics, and technology matters requiring the manipulation of large, disparate datasets. This role requires collaboration with Secretariat experts and other accounting, valuation, economics, and technical professionals within the practice to deliver bespoke solutions for our clients on their high-stakes legal and regulatory matters. Your primary responsibilities will include:\nAssist with obtaining data relevant to the analysis at hand, loading that data in an analytics platform in preparation for analysis; and performing checks to ensure the veracity of that data\nAssist in organizing and interpreting data from a variety of sources including banking transactions, accounting system entries, IT service tickets, and many more sources supporting experts from a variety of industries\nAssist with the quantification of damages and exposure amounts, funds tracing across accounts, and other analyses involving historical financial, operational, and transactional data\nAssist with the preparation of expert reports, rebuttal reports, and other written work product detailing our methodologies and results\nTake a leadership role on the analytics aspects of an engagement, working with other Secretariat accounting, valuation and technical professionals to ensure our work is of the highest quality and delivered on time and on budget\nCommunicate with clients and counsel\nPrepare for and attend hearings, trials and mediations\nManage the day-to-day requirements of multiple engagements\nQUALIFICATIONS\nRequisite educational and work experience:Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics/Data Science, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or similar, from an accredited university or college\n4+ years of prior experience applying analytics in the context of disputes and advisory matters and involving large data sets\nStrong understanding of relational databases and the ability to identify relationships between disparate data sources for analysis\nProficient in SQL, Python, R and/or other programming languages to manipulate data stored in relational databases\nFamiliar with cloud-based platforms for large-scale analytics such as Databricks, AWS, or Google BigQuery\nDatabase and programming certifications, or related credentials such as CPA, CFF, CFA, CFE, or ABV is a plus\n\nAbility to distill and communicate (written or verbally) complex analytical methods and results into facts and insights for clients, counsel, and experts\nAble to quickly assimilate relevant information in unfamiliar situations and develop creative approaches and solutions necessary to resolve complex problems\nThe ability to manage and prioritize your time and your team’s time, potentially against a backdrop of competing deadlines\nThe ability to manage team members, both junior and senior, as well as external stakeholders\nThe ability to work independently whilst knowing which issues and risks need to be highlighted to senior staff, ideally accompanied by suggested viable solutions\nExcellent analytical and problem resolution abilities\nExcellent listening, verbal, written, technical, and presentation skills\nThe desire to join in with, and/or lead, auxiliary tasks associated with a growing practice within a rapidly growing firm\nHighly proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Excel and PowerPoint\nThe ability to travel as needed\nWorking proficiency in a second non-English language is a plus\nAt Secretariat, we believe in pay transparency and equity.
