You'll work on problems that sit right at the boundary of computer vision research and real clinical use, where model decisions affect how radiologists work and how patients get diagnosed. This is a hands-on, senior-level role for someone who wants ownership over their models end to end, not just a slice of a pipeline.\nWhat you'll do\nDesign, train, and validate machine learning and deep learning models for medical imaging applications\nOwn the full model lifecycle - data preparation, architecture selection, training, evaluation, and support through deployment\nWork closely with product, engineering, and regulatory colleagues to turn clinical and business requirements into working models\nDig into large-scale, messy real-world imaging datasets - handle class imbalance, edge cases, and label noise\nTrack and apply state-of-the-art computer vision and deep learning research where it's relevant to our products\nExplain model behavior, performance, and limitations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders\nContribute to internal knowledge-sharing and mentor less experienced team members\nSupport regulatory and quality documentation of models where needed (we operate in a regulated medical device environment)Gross Salary for this position is between 65 000 - 80 000 euro per year. \n\n At Sectra, we hire for attitude and ability - train for skill. We also look for good communicators who have the ability to interact with colleagues, partners and customers in an effective, clear and constructive way.\nIn addition to these abilities, we also want you to have:\n5+ years of hands-on experience as a Data Scientist or Machine Learning Engineer, with real ownership of shipped models\nStrong Python skills and solid experience with modern ML/DL frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar)\nFirm grounding in statistics, classical ML, and deep learning architectures (CNNs and beyond)\nExperience taking models from research into production, with some awareness of MLOps practices\nComfort working with large, imperfect, real-world datasets - strong data wrangling and SQL skills\nClear communicator, able to translate technical results for non-technical audiences\nDegree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)\nFluent English\nWe consider it a great asset if you have:\nExperience applying computer vision to medical imaging (X-ray, CT, MRI, or similar modalities)\nFamiliarity with the DICOM protocol and medical imaging data formats/pipelines\nExperience working in a regulated environment (FDA/CE medical device software, IEC 62304, ISO 13485)\nBackground, coursework, or side projects touching radiology or biomedical engineering\nPublications or contributions in medical imaging / computer vision venues (MICCAI, RSNA, CVPR, or similar)\nOther information:\nThe goal is for the right candidate to start as soon as possible.\nWe recruit on an ongoing basis.
