This person will be based out of our Vancouver office. The ideal incumbentwill be aplant layout specialist who can develop cohesive facility designs that balance operational efficiency, constructability, maintainability and safety.\nThe Lead Mechanical Designer works on a diverse array of projects across the Mineral Processing industry. You'll be involved in the entire design process, from concept to detailed design, with a clear focus on Plant Layout expertise.\nCome join a growing business and a winning team!\nKey Responsibilities\nLead a team of designers to deliver detailed design of equipment and plant layouts from sketches or specification outlines in the mechanical field under direction of engineers\n\nCreate 3D designs from complex, multidiscipline engineering concepts.\n\nProvide technical leadership and mentorship, offering guidance on complex design challenges, modelling standards, and best practices.\n\nConduct and lead design reviews, proactively identifying risks, resolving technical issues, and ensuring compliance with project specifications, relevant standards, and client requirements.\n\nComply with the Change Management process for engineering design\n\nPrepare drawings of designs relating to plant, equipment, services or other facilities or structures.\n\nParticipate in the development and continuous improvement of the Quality management process and system.\n\nEnsure engineering designs follow the standard Sedgman design workflows, systems and procedures\n\nFocus on meeting expectations for schedule, quality and client satisfaction\n\nCheck drafting deliverables for accuracy, completeness and adherence to design specifications & intent.\n\nApply attention and diligence to uphold quality standards, and client requirements, to complete tasks efficiently.\n\nAbout You\nAssociate Diploma in CAD / Associate Degree in Engineering or equivalent.\n\nMust have 10+ years industry experience in a design / consultancy environment, with minimum 3 years supporting mining or mineral processing projects.\n\nProven experience developing and coordinating full plant layouts for mining and mineral processing facilities\n\nStrong understanding of equipment arrangement, access requirements, material flow, maintenance considerations and operational efficiency.\n\nDemonstrated experience across multiple mining projects and plant sizes, with the ability to apply practical layout solutions from conceptual design through to detailed engineering.\n\nStrong expertise in Auto CAD 3D software (AutoCAD, Inventor, Advance Steel, Navisworks) is essential\n\nAbility to work autonomously.\n\nPrevious MS Office skills\n\nWhat is in it for you?\nGet to work on significant projects for the Americas mining industry\n\nSignificant career growth potential\n\nAccess to world leading mentors across disciplines and commodities\n\nShort term incentives (bonus) program\n\nRRSP matching\n\nHealth and benefits package\n\nSalary Range: $115,000 - $135,000\nSedgman Canada Limited is part of the CIMIC Group’s mineral processing company and is a leading provider of mineral processing and associated infrastructure solutions to the global resources industry.\nIf you’re looking for more in your next move, you’ll find it here: more opportunity to deepen your design expertise, more impact through leadership opportunities, more perspective through multidisciplinary collaboration, and more purpose supporting the resources and critical minerals projects helping shape the future.\nIf this opportunity resonates with you, we’d love to hear from you.
