{"id":2095220,"url":"https://alion.io/job/sedgman-mechanical-engineer","title":"Mechanical Engineer","company":{"id":2300355,"name":"Sedgman","domain":"sedgman.com","url":"https://alion.io/company/sedgman","size_band":"501-1000","is_staffing_agency":false,"employer_type":"direct","is_intermediary":false,"listed_via":null,"ats_vendor":"Oracle","truth_index":null},"role":"Industrial Engineering","role_family":"Industrial Engineering","seniority":"senior","employment_type":null,"work_mode":"on_site","remote_scope":null,"remote_scope_basis":null,"remote_working_hours":null,"hiring_geo_confidence":"explicit","locations":["Vancouver, Canada"],"countries":["CA"],"hiring_countries":[],"hiring_countries_total":0,"salary":{"min":105000,"max":135000,"currency":"CAD","period":"year","gross":null,"usd_annual":94792},"salary_estimate":null,"experience_years_min":5,"visa_sponsorship":true,"relocation_package":false,"has_equity":false,"technologies":[{"name":"AutoCAD","optional":false}],"status":"live","first_seen_at":"2026-10-08T16:19:40Z","employer_posted_date":"2026-10-08","last_verified_at":"2026-10-12T14:20:25Z","board_verified":true,"closed_at":null,"days_open":3,"trust":{"level":"ok","repost_count":null,"flags":[],"days_open":3},"description":"Sedgman is currently looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our growing team in Vancouver BC.\nThe ideal candidate will have mechanical design experience working on mining/heavy industrial type projects, from conceptual design and studies through to project completion; they will have strong knowledge and experience specifically in mechanical process equipment, platework and piping.\nThis individual will be responsible for a variety of tasks, ranging from engineering design, equipment selection, and on-site support and quality control.\nHe / She will have delivered engineering services at an intermediate level, including the ability to complete technical specifications and detailed planning, recommending changes to specification or design engineering processes as appropriate.\nCome join a team of forward thinking, enthusiastic, results-driven and collaborative professionals!\nKey Responsibilities will include:\nDeliver mechanical and piping design across multiple sustaining capital projects.\n\nDevelop designs for mechanical equipment, process platework and pipework.\n\nOversee layout drafting and 3D modelling through basic and detailed design phases\n\nContribute to proposals, scope development, and continuous design improvements.\n\nDesign of piping systems, process and mechanical equipment including design and selection of static and rotating equipment\n\nDefine and recommend design methods, specifications and performance of functional requirements for new projects.\n\nUndertake or supervise the preparation of feasibility studies, surveys and reports, design layouts, PFD’s, P&ID’s, specifications, bill of quantities, materials lists and cost estimates.\n\nEnsure engineering designs follow the standard Sedgman design workflows, systems and procedures; Continuous improvement of design systems used by the organisation.\n\nPrepare technical specifications, datasheets, requisitions and perform technical bid evaluations of process and mechanical equipment\n\nProvide engineering support to the project teams in line with management direction whilst maximising individual and teams utilisation.\n\nProduce and monitor engineering work hour budgets during concept, study, tender and detailed design stage as required.\n\nEnsure project time and cost KPI’s are met - monitor effectiveness of designs, scheduling of work, resource requirements and review compliance with project execution plan (schedule) and client expectations.\n\nProvide technical support to the team of piping designers for design/basic engineering during construction phases.\n\nProject Manager for discipline lead projects as assigned\n\nBuild and maintain client relationships and respond to client requests, travel to various client sites, attend project meetings and conduct field reviews as required\n\nAlways ensure health and safety policies are followed at all sites\n\nWhat are we looking for? Qualifications:\nBachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering (piping design experience is highly desired)\n\nWill have between 5 - 7 years of relevant experience as a Mechanical engineer on mining, energy or heavy industrial projects.\n\nWill be a registered engineer with EGBC (P.
