The team is split into FinOps and Engineering squads, with this role sitting within the FinOps squad.\nAbout the role\nAs a FinOps Engineer at SEEK, you will help engineering teams make better cloud cost decisions without slowing delivery. This is a hands-on technical role focused on optimising costs and strengthening governance to foster a cost-aware culture.\nYou will work across Engineering, Platform, Operations, and Finance to improve how we understand, forecast, optimise, and govern cloud spend. You will combine FinOps practices, cloud engineering knowledge, data analysis, and automation to help teams manage spend proactively and maximise the business value of cloud.\nResponsibilities\nDrive cloud cost optimization, including rightsizing, waste reduction, architectural improvements and commitment-based savings opportunities.\nDevelop reporting dashboards and actionable insights on cloud spending, cost trends, optimization opportunities, and financial performance.\nCollaborate with Engineering, Operations, Finance, and other stakeholders to align cloud resource usage with business objectives and budgets.\nParticipate in architecture and design reviews to ensure cost-efficient solutions are implemented early in the development lifecycle. \nLeverage AI tooling and workflows to automate insight generation and drive FinOps at scale.\nEstablish, support and automate recurring FinOps governance policies, processes, and best practices.\nInvestigate cost anomalies and fix them so they stay fixed.\nPromote a cost-aware culture at SEEK by delivering FinOps best practice workshops.\nEssential skills and experience\nBachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Finance, or equivalent professional experience.\nAWS, GCP, and/or FinOps certifications.\nProficiency in scripting or coding languages (e.g. Python, Bash).\nHands-on experience with cloud cost management tools and services (e.g. AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, GCP Billing).\nExperience with data analysis tools and building BI dashboards (e.g. Quicksight, Athena, SQL, BigQuery, Looker, Domo, Tableau, etc.).\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and identify cost optimization opportunities.\nProven experience in a FinOps role, with an understanding of cloud cost management and corporate accounting processes (e.g. forecasting, invoicing, chargeback, accruals‚ etc.).\nAbility to communicate effectively and deliver presentations to leaders. \nOpen-minded collaborator with a growth mindset and a practical, can-do approach.\nFamiliarity with agile methodologies and DevOps practices.\nOther skills and experience\nExperience with FinOps for AI and AI for FinOps. Experience managing AI/ML inference costs, API consumption, and token-based pricing across AI services, and experience with agentic AI solutions to provide automated insights at scale.\n Essential skills and experience\nBachelor's degree in data science, statistics, computer science, information technology, finance, economics or a related quantitative field, or equivalent professional experience.\nStrong SQL and data modelling skills, with hands-on experience querying large, granular billing datasets (e.g. Athena, BigQuery, Redshift, Snowflake).\nProven experience building BI dashboards and visualisations (e.g. QuickSight, Looker, Power BI, Tableau, Domo) for both engineering and executive audiences.\nProficiency in Python (or R) for data analysis, statistical modelling, recurring reporting automation and data collection scripting (e.g. Bash).\nHands-on experience with cloud cost management tools and data sources (e.g. AWS Cost Explorer, CUR, GCP Billing and BigQuery export, Azure Cost Management) and/or third-party FinOps platforms (e.g. Apptio Cloudability, CloudHealth).\nPractical experience with forecasting, trend analysis and anomaly detection, with the judgement to know when a simple model beats a complex one.\nRigour about data quality - reconciliation across sources, documented definitions, and healthy scepticism about your own numbers.\nAWS, GCP or FinOps certifications.\nFamiliarity with agile methodologies and version-controlled analytics workflows (e.g. Git, dbt, CI for data pipelines).\nStrong analytical, communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to interpret complex data, identify optimisation opportunities, and work effectively across cross-functional teams.\nOther skills and experience\nExperience applying FinOps to AI workloads and using AI to support FinOps.\nExperience managing AI/ML inference costs, API consumption, and token-based pricing across AI services; tracking cost per token, cost per inference and GPU utilisation; and experience with agentic AI solutions to provide automated insights at scale.\nExperience applying data science to operational or financial data - regression, time-series forecasting (e.g. ARIMA, Prophet), clustering, and outlier or changepoint detection.\nExperience building or maintaining data pipelines and transformation layers (e.g. dbt, Dataflow, Glue, Airflow, Composer).\nExperience modelling unit economics or cost-per-transaction in a product, platform or marketplace business.\n Perks and benefits\nAt SEEK we offer:\nSupport of flexible working, including a mix of office and work from home days depending on your role\nAnnual Performance Bonus Plan\nThe opportunity to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per financial year\nFrequent events including sports days, year-end party, hackathon, and trivia\nCasual dress every day\nAt SEEK, we are passionate about fostering a culture of inclusion and wellbeing that embraces and values the diversity of our people.
