In this role, you'll contribute to the design, development, deployment, and support of scalable, highly available cloud-based systems that power our products and services, working closely with a cross-functional team to deliver reliable solutions for our customers.\nIn this role, you will have the opportunity to:\nDevelop, test, deploy, and support high-quality, production-ready software solutions.\nDesign and implement scalable backend services and cloud-native applications.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deliver new capabilities.\nBreak down complex technical challenges and contribute to practical, maintainable solutions.\nCreate and maintain software designs and technical documentation aligned with engineering standards and security best practices.\nParticipate in code reviews, pull requests, and peer feedback activities to maintain code quality and promote knowledge sharing.\nBuild and support integrations across desktop applications, cloud services, and customer-facing web applications.\nContribute to Agile delivery practices while continuously learning, improving, and sharing knowledge with the team.\nSupport operational excellence through monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.\nTo be successful in this role, you should have:\nA degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.\n5+ years of professional software engineering experience.\nStrong hands-on experience developing software in Python.\nExperience designing and building cloud-based applications and services.\nFamiliarity with AWS, GCP, or other modern cloud platforms.\nExperience with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.\nAn interest in backend and distributed systems development.\nStrong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.\nExcellent communication skills and a continuous learning mindset.\nOur technology stack:\nServices and serverless functions built primarily in Python and Java.\nA range of AWS and GCP services.\nAutomated deployment pipelines using GitHub Actions and infrastructure-as-code practices.\nMonitoring, observability, and operational tooling including Datadog.\nAdditional Information\nOffice-based working environment, work from our Christchurch office three or more days per week.\nPosting Close Date: 11/6/2026\nOur Commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion\nAt Seequent, we champion the uniqueness of each individual.
