Our mission is to create software that empowers geo-professionals, decision-makers, and communities to uncover solutions that benefit people and the planet. We believe in the power of connection. When data comes together and people can share insights, they can solve even the most complex geoscience challenges.

About Us:

At Seequent, we help organisations to understand the underground, giving the confidence to make better decisions faster.

We build world-leading technology that is at the forefront of Earth sciences, transforming the way our customers work. Every day we help them develop critical mineral resources more sustainably, design and build better infrastructure, source renewable energy, and reduce their impact on the environment.

We operate in 145+ countries while proudly maintaining headquarters in New Zealand.

The Role

The Technical Support Engineer helps users of the Seequent Geotechnical Analysis portfolio overcome challenges using GeoStudio and PLAXIS. Bringing geotechnical and/or numerical expertise, you will provide technical support and education, troubleshoot complex modelling issues, and share user feedback with product development to improve the software and user experience.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Provide timely, high-quality technical support for GeoStudio and PLAXIS through phone, forums, video calls, web service tickets, email, and support platforms.
  • Research, troubleshoot, and resolve complex questions involving product functionality, system configuration and setup, bugs, and enhancements, including testing solutions to confirm successful resolution.
  • Help users select appropriate geotechnical and numerical modelling techniques and explain results from complex Limit Equilibrium Method and Finite Element Method models.
  • Teach users the theoretical background behind the software and calculations so they can understand modelling results and move their projects forward.
  • Manage and accurately document client inquiries, keep users informed through resolution, and consistently respond within SLO targets.
  • Collaborate with Product Development, QA, and Product Management to relay user feedback, report issues, and contribute to product quality and improvement.
  • Identify recurring support needs and create knowledge-transfer content such as white papers, practical examples, demos, Bentley Communities contributions, and on-demand learning content.
  • Deliver user education through webinars, web-based training, classroom sessions, workshops, courses, mentoring, and occasional in-person training.
  • Support team learning by helping onboard and guide new team members and sharing knowledge with adjacent teams, Application Engineers, and Product Success colleagues.

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • MSc degree in Geotechnical Engineering, or an equivalent level obtained through a combination of education and experience.
  • 1-5 years of prior engineering-related experience, plus customer service experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical details; fluent English is required.
  • Experience with GeoStudio, including Limit Equilibrium Method and Finite Element groundwater flow analysis.
  • Experience with PLAXIS and geotechnical Finite Element Method software, plus basic knowledge of adjacent Seequent applications such as Leapfrog and OpenGround.
  • Ability to find creative solutions to complex technical problems and a strong desire to understand user challenges.
  • Proficiency in Bentley and Seequent Support Services tools and procedures, including ServiceNow, Communities, Azure DevOps, and Aha.
  • Initiative in identifying recurring issues, proposing improvements, taking ownership of personal development, and staying current with relevant industry trends, best practices, and government regulations.
  • Self-motivation, a proactive approach, and a strong desire to learn; experience with Python or another object-oriented programming language is an additional qualification.
