OF POSITIONS: 2\nSALARY: $115,380.93\nPosition Overview: The Leadership Development Coordinator builds the leadership recruitment and development skills of the Union’s staff and members. The Leadership Development Coordinator responds to requests for training, convenes meetings, and collaborates with others to develop and deliver a variety of educational events and workshops.\nJob Responsibilities: Collaborate with officers, regional coordinators of other departments (e.g., New Organizing, Political Action, Communications), organizers, staff, and members to identify and meet leadership development needs based on division work plans and union goals. Ensure smooth operation of the delegate training program for members. Develop and conduct workshops that enhance the ability of staff, officers, and experienced members to increase the leadership skills of all members.\nCollaborate with the director and department staff on program administration to meet department and organizational goals\nFunctions as a part of the Divisional Leadership Team, including attending and participating in weekly leadership meetings.\nDevelop, revise, and deliver curriculum for courses, campaigns, special events, and conferences.\nProven ability to effectively connect with, inspire, or coach adult learners.\nOrganize and conduct educational sessions.\nTrain staff and members as facilitators.\nWork with support staff to set logistics and communication for training.\nAssist and support training in Health and Safety, Politics, and other areas as needed\nManage databases of registration and attendance at training courses (e.g., Excel, Access)\nAdminister assessments of programs and participants.\nSubmit reports to the Director.\nAttend and staff committees and task forces linked to the Education Department.\nREQUIREMENTS:\nA combination of work and educational experience is required\nPassionate about social and economic justice and role of education in social change.\nThree or more years of work in a social justice or education environment, especially as an organizer or adult educator, with facilitation and mentorship experience\nDemonstrated experience in facilitating training and revising curriculum\nDemonstrated leadership ability, including strong listening, speaking, and critical thinking skills\nStrong reading and writing skillsAbility to collaborate with others, work effectively in teams, and manage multiple projects\nComfort and confidence working with others at a variety of skill levels\nFlexibility and adaptability; Ability to learn new material quickly\nBasic computer proficiency and database skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Web)\nAbility to travel to the five (5) states 1199SEIU represents and elsewhere as needed.\nValid driver’s license preferred\nAbility to move 20-pound boxes.\nAbility to work long and irregular hours as needed\nPreferable that the candidate has some knowledge of the Hudson Valley and Capital regions.\nBachelor’s Degree or 5 years’ experience (in relevant field), Certificates and/or additional degrees should be indicated\nApplicants should submit one document\nCover letter and resume\nThree references\nList of key trainings received and/or conducted in and outside of 1199\nGeneral Information: The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by persons assigned to this title.
