The Farm Manager's requirements are as follows:\nBasic math skills are essential.\nBasic computer skills preferred.\nBe a self-starter without the need for constant supervision.\nGood written and verbal communication.\nGood reading skills.\nWash and disinfect turkey production facilities in a safe and organized manner.\nFollow the company’s rules and regulations for biosecurity, animal welfare, and safety.\nWork respectively and collaboratively with one General Farm Worker, The Vaccination Crew (when they service the farm), The Service Technician, The Veterinarian (when they visit the farm), The Breeder Manager, and The Chief Operation Office (whenever he visits).\nBe willing to help in any area to get the job done. \nCan push, bend, stoop, squat, pull, and lift to 50lb.\nSuccessfully work with live animals.\nOrganize and prioritize responsibilities to ensure efficient operations. \nPerform the job duties while constantly moving and using hands, occasionally lifting objects while exposed to dust, cold, humidity, heat, chemicals, and fumes.\nWork an extended day, night, and weekend. This is crucial when a new flock of birds arrives because they are babies.\nPresent a positive and professional image of the company.\nExhibit courtesy and professionalism in everything you do.\nFollow the directives of The Service Tech and The Division Manager.\nUse and demonstrate time management well.\nEnsure the safety of Select Genetics assets (weed eaters, mowers, water hoses, etc.) under the position’s management.\nMaintain a safe and clean working environment.\nA willingness to work varied schedules where some weekends will be required.\nDaily document and input mortalities in the M-Tech (Company’s database system) the number of dead and culled birds per barn, if any.\nTake feed inventory daily or at least every other day to ensure bins are adequately supplied.\nCall in the farm’s weekly feed order early on Wednesdays.\nWeigh birds weekly as directed by The Service Tech and/or The Breeder Manager to ensure birds' weights are where they should be.\nFollow and enforce all company regulations on biosecurity, animal welfare, and safety.\nOther duties as assigned by direct supervisor.\nResponsibilities and tasks outlined in this document are not exhaustive and may change as determined by the company's needs.\nRequirements:\nHigh school diploma or equivalent or two years of related experience.\nExperience in brood or growing turkey farms. \nDoes not own or operate around backyard poultry, foul, or swine operations off-duty.\nKnowledge and/or experience of animal husbandry and welfare preferred. \nA valid Driver’s License and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record if needed.\nA solid understanding of fundamental business practices; the ability to lead and manage others; the ability to build creative, productive, and cohesive teams; excellent communication skills including verbal, written, and listening; the ability to be self-sufficient and able to organize and prioritize work; the ability to work under pressure; the ability to read and interpret relevant technical, industry, government regulations, and legislation; the ability to communicate interact, influence, persuade all levels of employees.
