This position works closely with veterinarians, laboratory professionals, turkey growers, and other industry personnel to support accurate and timely diagnostic testing. The Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory Technician is responsible for assisting with necropsies, performing laboratory testing procedures, preparing media and supplies, processing samples, and reporting results while maintaining strict biosecurity, animal welfare, and safety standards.\nSelect Genetics presents a solid platform to serve customers nationally and internationally by providing quality poults, service, and innovation. Select Genetics is the leading supplier of poults to growers and companies worldwide.\nThe Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory Technician will:\n Assist veterinarians with necropsies and sample collection\n Set up, read, and interpret bacterial cultures and sensitivities\n Perform ELISA serology testing \nConduct PCR testing procedures \nPerform Salmonella enrichment and isolation procedures\nPrepare laboratory media and reagents\nPrepare testing supplies and maintain inventory \nReceive, label, and process diagnostic samples \nAccurately record and report laboratory results in a timely manner \nAssist with sample collection from field locations when needed \nAssist in research trials and special diagnostic projects \nMaintain laboratory cleanliness and organization\nSanitize and disinfect equipment and work areas according to protocols \nFollow all biosecurity, animal welfare, and safety regulations\nWork productively in a team environment and assist in other areas as needed\nPerform other duties as assigned by the Company Veterinarian or Lab Manager\nMaintain accurate and timely laboratory records and documentation.\nEnsure all testing procedures are performed according to established protocols\nMaintain proper handling, storage, and disposal of biological samples and chemicals.\nDemonstrate effective time management and organizational skills.\nMaintain a safe, clean, and compliant laboratory environment.\nCommunicate effectively with veterinarians, management, growers, and team members.\nAdhere to all company regulations pertaining to biosecurity, animal welfare, and safety.\nUnderstand that responsibilities and tasks outlined in this document are not exhaustive and may change as determined by company needs.\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required\nAssociate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Technology, Laboratory Technology, Microbiology, or related field preferred\nPrevious experience in animal agriculture, veterinary medicine, laboratory technology, or poultry industry strongly desired\nFamiliarity with anatomical terminology and basic poultry anatomy/physiology preferred\nExperience with ELISA, PCR, bacterial culture techniques, and laboratory equipment preferred\nStrong organizational skills and attention to detail \nExcellent communication and time management skills\nAbility to work independently and in a team environment \nProficient reading and writing skills in English required\n Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel) \nAbility to successfully work with live animals and biological specimens\nAbility to lift 25 pounds or more as needed\nWillingness to work extended hours when necessary\nRegular exposure to biological materials, chemicals, and laboratory reagents\nExposure to dust, odors, and temperature variations \nFrequent standing, walking, bending, and repetitive hand use \nFrequent use of laboratory equipment including microscopes, pipettes, centrifuges, incubators, and PCR equipment \nUse of personal protective equipment (PPE) including gloves, lab coat, boots, safety glasses, and face mask\nWork performed primarily indoors in a laboratory setting with occasional farm or field
