As an Associate Frontend Software Engineer, you’ll help build Self Financial’s mobile app and web experiences while learning from experienced engineers on a high-performing team.\nThis role is designed for someone early in their engineering career, typically with 0-3 years of professional experience. You’ll contribute to customer-facing features, improve your frontend fundamentals, and build high-quality software in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with frequent releases.\nWe care deeply about creativity, quality, learning, and delivering an innovative user experience to a large customer base.\nWhat you’ll do\nBuild and maintain customer-facing features across Web, iOS, and Android with support from senior engineers.\nImplement frontend functionality using JavaScript/TypeScript, React, HTML, and CSS.\nContribute to React Native mobile app experiences and web experiences as part of a cross-functional product team.\nIntegrate frontend components with REST APIs and third-party services such as analytics, messaging, and feature flagging tools.\nWrite clean, maintainable code and participate in code reviews.\nLearn and apply best practices for testing, accessibility, performance, and safe releases.\nCollaborate with Product, Design, Backend Engineering, QA, and your engineering manager to ship user-focused improvements.\nDebug issues, ask good questions, and grow your understanding of Self’s frontend architecture and development practices.\nContribute to team rituals, documentation, and continuous improvement.\nWhat you bring\n0-3 years of software engineering experience, including internships, co-ops, academic projects, bootcamp projects, or professional experience.\nWorking knowledge of HTML, CSS, and modern web development fundamentals.\nBasic understanding of REST APIs and how frontend applications communicate with backend services.\nFamiliarity with Git and common software development workflows.\nInterest in writing reliable, tested, accessible, and maintainable code.\nStrong willingness to learn, receive feedback, and grow as part of a collaborative engineering team.\nWhat makes you stand out\nInternship, project, or professional experience with React FrameworkExperience using agentic engineering tools (e.g., Claude, OpenAI/Codex, Copilot) to accelerate development workflows.\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience preferred.\nFoundational experience with JavaScript or TypeScript.\nExperience building user interfaces with React, React Native, or similar frontend frameworks.\nPersonal, academic, or open-source projects that demonstrate frontend craftsmanship and product thinking.\nBase salary range: $90,000-130,000 annually.
