In this role, you will develop and support our Satellite Synchronized Network Clocks and Precise Time product line.\nAs a Firmware Engineering Manager, a typical day may include the following:\nServing as technical lead on complex embedded Linux firmware projects. Performing management activities to attract, hire, supervise, and develop individual contributors to meet the goals of the group. Managing and breaking down a backlog of tasks for the team. Creating and maintaining internal design documentation. Writing test plans and developing test procedures. Preparing design and system level specifications. Participating or moderating peer reviews of designs, documentation and test plans. Providing and maintaining accurate project plans and labor estimates. Working closely with product managers on new product concepts, enhancements and long-term strategy. Engaging with cross-discipline teams to deliver world-class products for critical infrastructure. Modeling, teaching, and applying SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles. Understanding. Creating. Simplifying. Other duties as assigned.\nThis job may be a good fit if you…\nare passionate about designing firmware for embedded Linux/RTOS systems.\n\nenjoy solving difficult problems with efficient and creative solutions.\n\nhave experience from web development, database systems, all the way down to kernel drivers.\n\nare knowledgeable in networking/Ethernet (IEEE 802.3) and precise timing technologies such as PTP (IEEE 1588) and IRIG-B.\n\nwant a career making electric power safer, more reliable, and more economical.\n\nRequired Qualifications\nB.S. degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience\n\n8+ years of engineering or management experience in embedded Linux/RTOS firmware development using C/C++\n\nDemonstrated ability to design/produce/support successful products/processes\n\nStrong desire to develop employees and lead projects\n\nAbility to work cooperatively in a team environment and mentor others\n\nAbility to rapidly learn new skills and assume new responsibilities\n\nStrong writing, technical documentation and speaking\n\nBackground check results satisfactory to SEL\n\nNegative drug test result(s)\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nSupervisory experience or training\n\nStrong project management knowledge and skills\n\nExperience with the following tools:\nSoftware development tools (Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket, Jenkins, etc.)\n\nSource control (Git, Mercurial, etc.)\n\nTest automation & scripting (GoogleTest, Ctest, Behave, Python Unittest, Bash, etc.)\n\nModern communications protocols (Ethernet, TCP/IP, etc.)\n\nCybersecurity best practices (CVE analysis, threat modeling, etc.)\n\nCompetitive pay.
