(Swing shift: 3pm-11:30pm or 12:30pm-9pm, M-F)\nAs a Mechanical Engineering Technician, you will contribute to the development of basic solutions, in accordance with defined engineering procedures or guidelines under the supervision of an engineer or experienced technician. You will also document prototype construction, build/test results, etc. and maintain engineering records.\nA typical day as a Mechanical Engineering Technician might include:\nLearning to utilize job specific components/tools/standards.\nAssembling and delivering basic solutions and other related components.\nProviding project estimates (i.e. labor, materials, schedule, etc.).\nCompleting accurate time logging and recordkeeping according to documented procedures.\nThis job might be for you if:\nYou have a two-year technical degree or the equivalent combination of training and relevant work experience.\nYou can demonstrate technical competence for ALL of the \"core curriculum\":CAD modeling (CSWA level) & Dimensioning Standards, Drawing & schematic interpretation, Mathematics (Geometry, Trigonometry, College algebra), Applied Physics, Technical Writing\n\nYou can demonstrate technical competence in 2+ of the following pathways:\nDesign: Machine component, sheet metal, plastic injection molding, rapid prototyping, tolerance analysis, metrology, material/surface finish selection\nStress: Statics, Mechanics of Materials, stress analysis\nThermal: Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer\nAutomation: Robotics, circuits, programming, machine vision, debugging\nMachining/Fabrication: Metal forming, cutting/machining, finishing, joining processes, metrology\nTesting: Engineering testing & instrumentation, troubleshooting, statistics\n\nYou have 2+ years in a technical/manufacturing support role involving:Electronics Manufacturing, Product Assembly, Cables & Harness Assembly, Electrical Wiring, Product Testing, Pneumatics, Motor control, Automation, or Hydraulics.\n\nYou have basic skills using MS Office apps.\nYou have the ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.\nYou have strong written & verbal communication skills.\nYou have background check results satisfactory to SEL.\nYou have negative drug test result(s).\nIt is a plus if you have:\nProficient use of project management and documentation tools, such as Confluence, and JIRA\nBasic computer programming experience (PLC, Python, PolyScript, VBA, etc.)\nBuilding experience identifying and troubleshooting basic process and development problems, verifying adherence to product/process specifications.\nFamiliarity with the scientific method.\nPhysical Requirements\nLift, push, pull and maneuver up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 35 pounds occasionally\nSit and stand for at least 8 hours\nVision correctable to 20/30 or better\nAbility to differentiate color\nProficient in the use of computer keyboard devices\nReach, Bend, Twist\nAbout Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories\nSEL designs, manufactures, and supports products and systems that protect, monitor, control, and automate electric power systems.
