Our team develops and integrates mechanical solutions for our manufacturing facilities that enable us to build our products in a safer, more reliable, or more economical way. (Swing shift: 3pm-11:30pm)\nA typical day as a Mechanical Engineering Technician might include:\nA mix of hands-on design work, problem-solving, and working directly with your customers.\nCollaborating on everything from problem statement creation to solution integration and closing out the projects.\nPrimarily assisting in the development of mechanical solutions that make our production environment safer, more reliable, and more economical.\nUsing mechanical assemblies, occasional basic pneumatics and electronics, SolidWorks analysis methods, and various materials and manufacturing methods to turn concepts into engineered realities.\nCAD work - whether you're building new designs or tweaking existing ones. Our solutions will be brought to life on the production floor so making sure they actually work in the real world is huge.\nBeing involved in design reviews and giving/receiving feedback.\nContributing to projects as part of a small agile team, delivering results on time and within budget while also developing your skillsets and supporting production staff to grow theirs as well.\nThis job might be for you if:\nYou have a 2-year+ technical degree or the equivalent combination of training and work experience\nYou have competence with applied physics, geometry, algebra, and basic trigonometry\nYou have CAD experience\nYou have approximately 2+ years of experience in three or more of the following areas: \nMechanical design and analysis\nMaterials and processes \nMechanics \nManufacturing engineering \nElectronic manufacturing techniques \n\nYou have strong problem-solving skills \nYou have clear and effective communication skills-written, verbal, and documentation \nYou are quick to learn new skills and open to taking on new responsibilities \nYou work well in team environments \nYou must pass a background check and drug test per SEL requirements \nIt is a plus if you have:\nWorked with a wide variety of mechanical solutions or designed and deployed some already\nExperience supporting design, or general engineering in a manufacturing environment\nWritten or run Design of Experiments\nPhysical Requirements\nLift, push, pull and maneuver up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 35 pounds occasionally\nSit and stand for at least 8 hours\nVision correctable to 20/30 or better\nAbility to differentiate color\nProficient in the use of computer keyboard devices\nReach, Bend, Twist\nAbout Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories\nSEL designs, manufactures, and supports products and systems that protect, monitor, control, and automate electric power systems.
