Read on. \nAbout the Role\nSemafor is seeking a Digital & Social Platform Editor to help amplify our journalism across platforms and formats.\nThis is not a traditional “social posting” role. We’re looking for someone who understands how modern media travels - across video, live events, podcasts, breaking news, YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, Reddit, X, and emerging platforms. The right candidate understands that packaging and distribution is editorial - and an important part of propelling our journalism forward.\nThis role sits at the center of newsroom, audience, video, audio, and events. You’ll help shape the strategy for how Semafor’s journalism is framed, edited, clipped, promoted, and distributed in real time . \nYou should have strong editorial instincts, comfort with video and light editing workflows, sharp news and platform judgment, and a deep understanding of how to create platform-native content that drives reach without compromising editorial quality. Interest in business, politics, media, technology, and global affairs is important.\nResponsibilities\nPackaging & Distribution of Our Best Journalism\nWork with newsroom leaders to identify the strongest moments, angles, and formats for distribution across scoops, breaking news, enterprise reporting, interviews, video, podcasts, and live journalism\nDevelop deep relationships with distribution platforms, with a special focus on LinkedIn, YouTube and X \nPackage and distribute Semafor journalism across social and digital platforms in formats optimized for each audience and channel\nWrite platform-native copy, headlines, captions, hooks, and framing that increase engagement and discoverability\nPublish and optimize content across LinkedIn, X, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and emerging platforms\nVideo & Live Content\nSupport rapid-turnaround distribution from Semafor events, including clipping live mainstage conversations in real time, or editorial video\nKnowledge of analytics, audience development, and platform performance trends\nInterest in business, politics, media, technology, and global affairs\nWork closely with video and audio producers to extend the reach and lifecycle of original content\nExecute social video editing, formatting, subtitling, and platform optimization\nAbility to clip, package, and publish short-form video from interviews, podcasts, newsroom shoots, and live events\nEvents & Promotion\nSupport promotional campaigns for Semafor events, franchises, and editorial launches\nCoordinate social coverage plans and live posting during major convenings and newsroom moments\nHelp extend the reach of Semafor’s live journalism before, during, and after events\nDevelop and implement promotion plans for shows and big events across all platforms\nAudience & Editorial Collaboration\nPartner closely with the newsroom and audience teams to identify distribution opportunities and audience growth strategies\nApply editorial judgment to determine what content should travel, where it should live, and how it should be framed\nMonitor performance trends, audience behavior, and platform shifts to inform publishing strategy\nMaintain Semafor’s editorial standards, voice, and accuracy across all distributed content\nQualifications\n3-5 years of experience in social media, audience development, digital publishing, or platform distribution\nStrong editorial instincts and understanding of news judgment\nExperience publishing across major social and video platforms, with a particular focus on LinkedIn, YouTube, X, and Reddit\nUnderstanding of platform-native storytelling and audience behavior\nAbility to work quickly and calmly in a fast-paced newsroom and live event environment\nStrong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills\nExperience covering or supporting live events\nFamiliarity with Premiere, CapCut, Descript, or similar editing tools\nExperience working with a wide array of journalists, newsroom teams\nCompensation: The salary range for this role is $100,000 - $120,000 annually based on individual candidate experience and skills.\nAdditional job details\n\nSemafor offers a Flexible Paid Time Off (PTO) policy to our full-time, salaried employees who may take paid time off as-needed without a prescribed limit or defined balance.\nSemafor, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer and enthusiastically encourages people from all backgrounds and experiences to apply.
