In this role, you will play a key part in executing offshore multidisciplinary modification projects on drilling rigs and specialized vessels. Above all, your work will make a real change for the global energy sector.\nThe position is full-time and is based at our Houston office, located in the hub of the energy industry. You can expect approximately 20-30 travel days per year, including offshore surveys and on-site project execution.\nYour tasks & responsibilities\nAs a Piping Design Engineer, you will support the execution of projects in accordance with agreed budgets, schedules, quality standards, and technical requirements. Projects typically involve maintenance and modification work on floating units such as drilling rigs and specialized vessels. The scopes span multiple disciplines and project phases, from engineering and design to procurement, construction, and installation.\nYour responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:\nDeveloping and reviewing piping designs, 3D models, drawings, piping layouts, isometrics, piping support drawings, and installation work packs.\nEnsuring designs are practical, constructible, and aligned with project requirements through design reviews, 3D model coordination, and clash detection.\nConducting offshore surveys and site verifications (incl. 3D scanning) to support engineering development and execution planning\nProviding technical input and tracking progress, risks, quality, and costs across projects\nTaking the lead on smaller projects or work packages, including day-to-day coordination with suppliers, clients and internal stakeholders.\nWorking closely with customers and internal teams while ensuring compliance with Semco Maritime standards, processes, and HSE requirements\nYour profile & qualifications\nTo succeed in this position, we expect that you have:\nA higher technical education, such as a bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Structural, Electrical, or a similar engineering discipline\nAt least five years of experience in a similar role within the maritime, offshore, or energy sector\nExperience with turnkey integration projects in the oil & gas industry, preferably including knowledge of MODU assets such as drillships, semi-submersibles, and jack-up rigs\nStrong experience with AutoCAD, BricsCAD, CADWorx, SolidWorks, and other relevant engineering and 3D modelling software\nExperience with structural and piping design and the development of engineering deliverables, including fabrication drawings and 3D models\nAn understanding of offshore construction, fabrication, and installation practices.\nExcellent english communication skills, both written and verbal\nA valid US work visa, such as a Green Card or US citizenship\nAvailability for offshore and international project travel\nValid offshore credentials are considered an advantage but are not required.\nWelcome to Semco Maritime\nAt Semco Maritime, we create change.
