As our manufacturing footprint expands, this team plays a critical role in building the programs, training, and culture that keep pace with that growth.\nJob Summary:\nThe EHS Engineer is responsible for supporting Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs, regulatory compliance, safety training, reporting requirements, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position provides dedicated support for the company's growing safety and environmental compliance needs as operations continue to expand.This role splits time between Semtech's Alhambra, CA campus (primary) and City of Industry, CA campus (secondary) approximately 80% Alhambra / 20% City of Industry - providing consistent EHS support and presence across both locations.\nResponsibilities:\nSupport EHS programs and ensure ongoing regulatory compliance with applicable federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety requirements \nDevelop, coordinate, and deliver safety training programs for employees and contractors\nConduct and support internal and external EHS audits and inspections, and track corrective/preventive actions to closure\nPrepare and maintain EHS reporting, recordkeeping, and regulatory documentation, including required filings and permits\nLead and support continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen EHS performance and reduce risk as the organization scales\nServe as an active participant on the Emergency Response Team (ERT), including participating in ERT training and drills and responding to emergency situations as needed\nSupport incident investigation and root cause analysis, and help ensure timely implementation of corrective actions\nSupport management of hazardous materials, chemical inventory, and hazardous waste programs in accordance with applicable regulations\nPerform other duties as assigned\nMinimum Qualifications:\nBachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.\n2+ years' experience supporting EHS programs in an industrial or manufacturing environment.\nWorking knowledge of applicable EHS regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, and state/local requirements).\nStrong organizational skills with experience supporting audits, training, and compliance reporting.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and EHS management software/systems.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.\nAbility to respond to and manage on-site emergencies, including availability to support the Emergency Response Team outside of standard working hours as needed.\nDesired Qualifications\nExperience in a semiconductor or high-reliability manufacturing environment.\nProfessional certification such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).\nExperience supporting EHS management systems (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001).\nExperience with hazardous materials/waste management, chemical inventory systems, or industrial hygiene monitoring.\nPrior experience serving on an Emergency Response Team, fire brigade, or similar emergency preparedness function.\nWorking Conditions:\nWork is primarily performed in a manufacturing/industrial environment, with regular time spent on the production floor.\nMust be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respiratory protection following medical clearance and fit testing, as applicable.\nMay be exposed to industrial conditions such as noise, chemicals, and moving equipment; must follow all required safety protocols.\nAs an active ERT member, may be required to respond to on-site emergencies outside of normal business hours.\nRequires regular travel between the Alhambra, CA (primary) and City of Industry, CA (secondary) campuses to support EHS programs at both locations; a valid driver's license may be required.\nThe intent of this job description is to describe the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job.
