The separator is a key component that helps make lithium-ion batteries safer, more durable and more efficient, supporting the transition towards a more electrified future.\nOur production is modern, advanced and operated under controlled cleanroom conditions. The manufacturing process consists of four main process steps, where precision, stability and quality are essential.\nTogether, we are building advanced manufacturing capabilities in Europe and developing solutions that make a difference - both today and for the future.\nThe role\nAs a Junior Chemical Engineer, you will support the development and optimizationof chemical and process engineering solutions at our site. You will work across different stages of engineering projects - from process design and technical documentation to equipment installation, commissioning and troubleshooting.\nThis is a hands-on and cross-functional role where you will work closely with Production, Quality, EHS, Procurement, Equipment and Maintenance, as well as project teams and international suppliers and contractors.\nYour responsibilities\nSupporting chemical-system process design and optimization.\n\nPreparing and updating P&IDs, equipment lists and other technical documentation.\n\nSupporting equipment and piping installation and supplier/contractor follow-up.\n\nAssisting with commissioning, trial runs and troubleshooting.\n\nSupporting corrective actions, punch lists and technical follow-up.\n\nPreparing and maintaining as-built documentation and supporting engineering changes.\n\nParticipating in site inspections and technical meetings.\n\nSupporting risk assessments and documentation related to SDS, CE, ATEX and PED.\n\nFollowing applicable environmental, occupational health and safety requirements and site procedures.\n\nWho you are\nYou are an early-career engineer with an interest in chemical engineering, industrial processes and technology.\nYou are structured, responsible and proactive, with a practical and solution-oriented approach. You pay attention to safety, quality and detail, while being comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.\nYou are curious and willing to learn, and you communicate effectively with people from different functions and backgrounds.\nYou bring\nA Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Science, Chemistry or a related engineering field.\n\n0-3 years of relevant industrial or engineering experience.\n\nBasic knowledge of chemical/process engineering and industrial production.\n\nFamiliarity with process equipment, piping, pumps, tanks, valves and instrumentation.\n\nThe ability to read and interpret P&IDs and technical drawings.\n\nAbility to organise and maintain engineering documentation.\n\nProficiency in Microsoft Office and engineering/documentation systems.\n\nGood professional working proficiency in English and Chinese, written and spoken.\n\nBasic awareness of environmental and occupational health and safety requirements.\n\nIt would be an advantage if you have\nExperience in chemical processing, industrial manufacturing, equipment installation, commissioning, troubleshooting or process engineering.\n\nFamiliarity with engineering change management and as-built documentation.\n\nExperience coordinating with suppliers, contractors or internal stakeholders.\n\nKnowledge of CE, PED, ATEX, industrial risk assessments or chemical safety/SDS documentation.\n\nIntermediate Swedish proficiency.\n\nRelevant training or certification in chemical safety, ATEX, CE/PED, occupational health and safety or related areas.\n\nWhy Senior Material Europe?\nAt Senior Material Europe, you will have the opportunity to work close to both advanced technology and real industrial production.\nYou will join our R&D / Project team of around 20 people in Eskilstuna and collaborate across engineering, production and support functions.
