This role is responsible for system-level electrical design, control circuit development, power and controls analysis, and the creation of test and design documentation supporting new product development and qualification activities.As a hands-on contributor, you will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to develop, integrate, test, and improve electrical systems and controls hardware for ruggedized defense products. Responsibilities include creating and maintaining electrical schematic packages using AutoCAD Electrical and OrCAD/Altium, selecting and integrating control system and power electronic components, supporting prototype builds and testing, and ensuring designs meet performance, reliability, manufacturability, and military compliance requirements.\nThe ideal candidate brings experience in defense, naval, or other highly regulated industries, with a strong foundation in control systems, power electronics, electrical schematics, and system integration. Experience with military electrical standards, shipboard power systems, and customer-facing design reviews is highly desirable.\nGeneral Responsibilities\nKey participant in creating designs within inter-disciplinary teams to address complex product design and manufacturing challenges\nCollaborates on feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs\nOrganizes development testing, engineering analysis, qualification testing, production launch\nKey participant in failure analysis investigations and engineering evaluations\nMaintains product documentation (drawings and specifications) and lessons including; producing design reports, test reports, operating manuals and test procedures\nCollaborates with senior engineers/managers to engage with customers in soliciting product specifications requirements, schedule expectations and budget Experience / Qualifications\nA university degree required (i.e. Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience\nMust be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands\nStrong communication skills; oral, written and presentation\nStrong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results\nStrong personal and professional ethical values and integrity\nHolds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards\nProficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)\nStrong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers\nAdditional Responsibilities\nDevelop, integrate, and validate control systems for electromechanical and power electronics hardware.\nSupport SDRL development and submittals for required electrical deliverables.\nParticipate in PDR and CDR design reviews with the Navy and Shipbuilders.\nDevelop and manage system schematic packages using AutoCAD Electrical and board-level schematic sets using OrCAD/Altium.\nCreate and maintain wiring harnesses and interconnect diagrams for system-level electrical assemblies.\nPerform circuit analysis, including power budgeting, signal integrity, component derating, and failure analysis.\nSelect electrical and control components based on performance requirements, environmental constraints, industry standards, and manufacturability considerations.\nApply knowledge of military shipboard electrical systems and MIL-STD requirements to design reliable and robust solutions.\nAdditional Preferred Qualifications\nProficiency with AutoCAD Electrical and OrCAD/Altium schematic capture tools.\nStrong knowledge of control systems, power electronics, and wiring practices.\nAbility to read, create, and interpret complex electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.\nExperience developing and executing test plans and documenting results.\nExperience selecting electrical and control system components based on technical, environmental, and regulatory requirements.\nUnderstanding of industry and military shipboard electrical standards.\nExperience designing, simulating, and prototyping electrical hardware and PCBAs for military equipment; MIL-E-917E and MIL-STD-461 experience preferred.\nExposure to PWM, PLL, and PID control methodologies.\nFamiliarity with C/C++ and MATLAB/Simulink.\nExperience with Hardware in the Loop (HIL) testbeds.\nHands-on troubleshooting experience with high-voltage circuits.\nBase Salary Range:\n$ 118,800.00 - 178,200.00\nAt Sensata, our employees are the key to our success and growth.
