As a Master Control Supervisor, you will support the playout and origination of 30+ CW, MeTV, MyNet, and independent television stations from our cloud-based Master Control platform. You will provide leadership, guidance, and development for a team of 20+ Master Control Operators, with a strong focus on training, skills development, operational consistency, and performance management.
Major Responsibilities
- Supervise the day-to-day operations of the Media Operations Center.
- Lead, train, and mentor new Master Control Operators, ensuring they are fully prepared to perform their responsibilities independently and consistently.
- Provide ongoing training, refresher training, and skills development for current Master Control Operators.
- Support the team during live local newscasts, breaking news, and local or network sports events.
- Assist the Senior Manager of the Media Operations Center with developing, implementing, and training staff on new processes, workflows, and standard operating procedures.
- Monitor operator performance and provide timely coaching, feedback, and corrective guidance when necessary.
- Ensure completion of daily operational tasks and adherence to established workflows, policies, and procedures.
- Serve as a liaison between the Media Operations Center and internal or external partners, including Station General Managers, Traffic, On-Air Promotion, Programming, Engineering, News, and other operational teams.
- Perform Master Control Operator duties when operational needs require.
- Assist with incident review, root-cause analysis, documentation, and corrective-action plans.
- Support staffing needs, including attendance management, call-ins, shift coverage, and unscheduled absences.
- Prepare and participate in employee performance evaluations and annual reviews.
- Promote positive employee relations and maintain a professional, respectful, and accountable work environment.
- Assist with special projects, reporting, and operational improvement initiatives as needed.
- Approach operations, staffing, and process improvement with an agile and lean mindset.
Qualifications
- Three or more years of experience as a Master Control Operator, Master Control Technician, or in a comparable role within television, media, or content operations.
- Demonstrated leadership, coaching, training, or supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience with on-air Master Control automation systems.
- Experience with cloud-based playout systems; AMAGI CLOUDPORT experience is a plus.
- Strong written communication skills, including the ability to create and maintain technical operating procedures. This is required.
- Experience troubleshooting operational issues involving playout, media, closed captioning, and related broadcast systems.
- Experience with digital workflows and digital video technologies.
- Experience with content ingest, playout, distribution systems, and related hardware.
- Experience switching live local newscasts and sporting events. This is required.
- Experience supporting local television station operations.
- Ability to work any shift in a 24/7 operation, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong organizational, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain calm, focused, and effective in a fast-paced live broadcast environment.

The base hourly compensation range for this role is $20.00 to $25.00 per hour. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidates’ relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in a retirement plan, life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, sick leave, vacation time, personal time, parental leave and employee stock purchase plan.
