You’ll work closely with product managers to understand what customers actually need, turn requirements and customer requests (including those raised through NRQs) into well-scoped features, and ship them with quality, performance and security in mind. We want someone who asks “why”, flags gaps early and challenges solutions when something doesn’t add up. You are a continuous learner biased towards action. You raise the bar for the engineers around you through your code, your reviews and your mentoring. While you use AI in your day to day work, you use solid judgement on when and how it should be used. This is the next step up from our Software Engineer role: where a Software Engineer scopes and delivers their own work well, you also shape the design and delivery of the team’s work and help others do the same.\nThis position is in Hungary, with the flexibility to work fully remote or hybrid.\nWHAT YOU’LL DO:\nDesign and build well-architected TypeScript features end to end for our AML services (case management, business backends and person service), and our customer facing Admin Panel, treating performance, scalability, security and observability as part of the design\n\nLead team-level design reviews and write design docs or ADRs for significant changes, accounting for how your services interact with the rest of the SEON platform\n\nChallenge requirements that don’t add up, and raise delivery risks early with a proposed mitigation\n\nConsistently deliver high-quality code with simplicity, security, testability, performance, and scalability in focus, setting the example others follow\n\nMaintain and develop client-side JavaScript libraries, the Node.js backend of AML Services and Nest.js / ExpressJS services\n\nTake part in the on-call rotation, debug complex cross-system issues and drive root cause analysis for significant incidents, with blameless follow-up\n\nProactively improve monitoring, alerting and runbooks for the services you own\n\nOwn the testing approach for your services, setting quality gates and keeping the code maintainable and well tested\n\nPrioritize and fix issues reported by QA and customers, and bring the customer’s voice into planning and prioritization\n\nTrack implementation progress using company processes and software (github / jira)\n\nReview code written by the team with technical depth, giving direct, constructive feedback that helps others grow\n\nCollaborate with your PM, the QA team, Architects and the Devops team on a continuous basis, and communicate with senior stakeholders so decisions are framed well and context reaches the whole team.\n\nLead planning and estimation, break large and ambiguous projects into incremental work streams, and step into a tech or project lead role on significant initiatives, setting the pace and unblocking others.\n\nDrive improvements to the team’s CI/CD pipelines, tooling and ways of working, and use retrospective data and delivery metrics to measure the results\n\nWork with large datasets, such as screening and watchlist data, keeping them performant, accurate and auditable.\n\nUse AI-assisted development tools in your day-to-day work, and help us find where AI can improve our products and the way we build them.\n\nTurn what works into reusable team standards such as templates, prompts and playbooks.\n\nMentor engineers across the team, giving feedback that helps them grow, and share knowledge so it does not stay with one person\n\nWHAT YOU’ll BRING:\nExcellent problem-solving skills\n\nAt least 6 years of experience in Software Development, including owning the design and delivery of production services\n\nExcellent working knowledge JavaScript/Typescript and stable knowledge of HTML5/CSS3 and RESTful API development\n\nAbility to cooperate with team members in an Agile development environment\n\nExperience designing for non-functional requirements and leading technical design discussions\n\nExperience operating what you build: monitoring, on-call, incident response and root cause analysis\n\nA track record of mentoring and of leading projects or work streams without needing a management title\n\nOut-of-the-box thinking combined with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment\n\nFluency in English\n\nTechnical requirements:\n\nJavaScript, Typescript, React, Node and NestJS\n\nHTML5, CSS3 (Sass)\n\nPostgreSQL\n\nElasticSearch\n\nAWS\n\nTerraform\n\nAMAZING IF YOU ALSO HAVE:\nExperience with data heavy applications\n\nExperience working in a regulated industry, such as AML, KYC or financial services\n\nExperience driving cross-team technical work\n\nSEON Technologies collects and processes personal data in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
