As a Staff Software Architect, you will embed with our Customer Platform and Scoring engineering teams, helping define feasibility during product research and shaping the technical vision.\nTogether these teams own the path a customer request follows through SEON: the platform customers configure and use, and the scoring engine that turns SEON’s vast dataset into a decision. Architectural challenges include multi-tenant isolation, integrating external data vendors within cost and latency limits, low-latency rule and model evaluation, scaling applications, and privacy and consent constraints on shared data.\nLocation: Budapest, hybrid\nWHAT YOU’LL DO:\nEmbed in the daily life of up to three engineering teams: Customer Platform (customer-facing applications, APIs, tenant management and provisioning) and Scoring (rules, scoring models and real-time decisioning).\n\nEnsure that all initiatives delivered by the teams have a technical design which is in-line with SEON's architectural best-practices, pragmatic (solves the right problems without being overly complicated), and complete and precise (covering all necessary aspects without loose ends).\n\nEnsure that security, scalability, and compliance are built into the foundation of all technical designs.\n\nCollaborate with the Tech Lead and Product Managers of the teams to identify the right ways to solve business problems.\n\nDeliver proof-of-concept solutions to demonstrate potential technical directions to take.\n\nSupport the estimation effort during the initiative planning phase.\n\nContribute to the delivery of initiatives via hands-on work when needed.\n\nAct as a technical mentor to the engineers within the Customer Platform and Scoring teams, elevating the overall engineering standards and practices.\n\nSurface recurring architectural challenges to the centralized Architecture team and contribute to company-wide solutions to those problems.\n\nDocument design decisions in the form of Architecture Decision Records.\n\nOwn the design of the interfaces between the three teams, such as the contract between enrichment data and scoring rules, so that changes in one team do not break the others.\n\nOccasionally support the revenue organization and customers when technical challenges like high-load events arise.\n\nWHAT YOU’LL BRING:\nStrong working knowledge of modern web development technologies, specifically TypeScript, Java, and Python.\n\nExperience with distributed system design.\n\nExperience designing and scaling high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems.\n\nStrong understanding of how web services and SaaS applications work.\n\nExperience designing multi-tenant SaaS platforms, including tenant isolation, provisioning, and configuration management.\n\nExperience integrating third-party data providers and APIs, and designing around their cost, latency, and reliability limits.\n\nExperience with real-time decisioning systems, such as rules engines, feature computation, or machine learning model serving.\n\nExpertise with Amazon Web Services (AWS).\n\nExperience with relational databases (specifically PostgreSQL or YugabyteDB).\n\nExperience with modern DevOps tools, particularly Kubernetes, Terraform, and ArgoCD.\n\nStrong understanding of data security best practices and designing systems that comply with strict data privacy standards (e.g., GDPR).\n\nStrong organizational skills and ability to work together with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.\n\nExperience and continuous curiosity on utilizing AI tools to improve engineering practices and SEON’s product\n\nAbility to work independently, prioritize your workload.\n\nExcellent written and verbal English communication skills.\n\nAMAZING IF YOU ALSO HAVE:\nFamiliarity with the fraud prevention, AML, KYC, or cybersecurity domains is a strong advantage.\n\nExperience with Kafka and Flink is a plus.\n\nExperience with analytical or columnar databases, such as ClickHouse, is a plus.\n\nExperience with multiple database/search technologies, specifically Elasticsearch is a plus.\n\nSEON Technologies collects and processes personal data in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
