Based at Garden Island, NSW, the role includes travel to other Serco Defence locations as required.\nWithin this role you will:\nDeliver engineering changes, investigations and technical support across the DMSS contract. \nProvide engineering advice supporting safe, compliant and effective vessel sustainment. \nMonitor vessel condition, equipment performance and emerging sustainment requirements. \nManage configuration, technical data and engineering documentation to maintain accuracy and control. \nSupport engineering governance, assurance, technical risk management and IFS/EAMS improvement. \nCollaborate with the SPO, site teams, technical subcontractors and engineering stakeholders.\nThe role is expected to obtain Engineering Authority Level 2 (EAL2) delegation under Serco's Delegations Framework.\nSerco is a place for you\nYou'll bring sound technical judgement and experience working across the technical and operational aspects of maritime sustainment. You'll be comfortable working with engineers, maintainers and Defence stakeholders to support safe operations, vessel availability and Defence capability.\nYou could be a great fit if you have:\nA Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering or a related discipline \nA minimum of five years' engineering experience within Defence, maritime or a similarly complex engineering environment \nExperience delivering engineering changes and technical problem-solving \nExperience conducting or leading engineering investigations, including root-cause analysis and corrective actions \nKnowledge of systems engineering and engineering change management \nExperience in vessel design, repair, sustainment or maintenance, with marine design experience highly regarded \nEligibility for Chartered Engineer (CPEng) registration or equivalent \nA current Class C driver's licence\nExperience working with Defence/Navy contracts or within a Systems Program Office, CMMS/EAMS platforms, AMSA and NSCV requirements, Class rules, or mooring and water marker systems will also be highly regarded.\nPlease note:\nThis position carries trust and responsibility. To support this, a comprehensive probity assessment, including a National Police Check, is a key part of the selection process for this role.\nAs this role requires an Australian Defence Security Clearance, applicants must be Australian Citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain that clearance.
