We are offering a full time, permanent position with excellent opportunities for career progress and development within the Space sector.\nKey responsibilities:\nAnalyse technical and operational requirements for integrating external services with the central monitoring platform.\nDesign and implement API integrations, data collectors, adapters and interface scripts.\nDefine technical interface specifications, data-exchange formats and error-handling mechanisms.\nDeploy and configure monitoring and ingestion components.\nConfigure and maintain development, reference and operational environments.\nValidate that measurements are collected and transferred correctly.\nAutomate deployments, testing and release activities.\nCoordinate technical releases and support transfer into production.\nMonitor integration components and troubleshoot operational problems.\nInvestigate incidents and perform root-cause analysis.\nImplement approved changes to interfaces and ingestion logic.\nEnsure that integrations comply with security, configuration-management and operational requirements.\nProduce and maintain architecture, interface, deployment and operating documentation.\nWork closely with the central platform team, service owners and consortium partners.\nSupport knowledge transfer and handover activities.\nWe are looking for someone who:\nOwnership, accountability and decision-making.\nIs curious about what data means, not only whether it has arrived.\nNotices inconsistencies and follows them through to the root cause.\nCan communicate effectively with both system engineers and domain experts.\nIs comfortable working with complex datasets from different source systems.\nValues accuracy, traceability and maintainability.\nCan combine day-to-day operational work with longer-term service improvement.\nIs able to act as a backup for basic integration and operational activities. \nTechnical knowledge and experience:\nA university degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology or equivalent professional experience.\nAt least 5 years of experience in system integration, platform engineering, DevOps or backend software engineering.\nStrong programming or scripting skills, preferably in Python.\nExperience designing and integrating REST APIs or comparable machine-to-machine interfaces.\nGood knowledge of Linux environments.\nPractical experience with containers, preferably Docker.\nExperience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments.\nExperience working with structured data formats such as JSON and XML.\nUnderstanding of authentication, certificates, access control and secure interface design.\nProfessional working proficiency in English.\nAdditional skills:\nKnowledge of Earth Observation/ Earth Explorer missions/ Heritage Missions and VHR satellites.\nKubernetes or another container orchestration platform.\nPrometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Elasticsearch or comparable observability technologies.\nMessage queues, event-streaming platforms or asynchronous integrations.\nCloud or private-cloud infrastructure.\nTime-series databases.\nInfrastructure-as-code or configuration-management tools.\nEarth Observation, satellite ground-segment or scientific-data systems.\nFormal release, configuration or change-management processes. \nWhat We Offer: More Than Just a Job\nAt Serco, we believe your career should come with more than a payslip, it should come with peace of mind, flexibility, and opportunities to thrive.
